Switch Modder Masagrator shared a screenshot of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition I’ll code it on X on March 19th. He noted that this 60 FPS mode is “only partially implemented.”
“The gameplay is rendered every two frames, so even if you output 60 fps, you’ll actually get 30 available frames,” Masagrator added when asked about the issue presented by the higher frame rate. “Cutscenes sometimes work fine. Sometimes, some objects may be jittering like they’re hardcoded like 30 fps.
This code could be the rest of the evidence that the monolith software developers attempt to run 60 fps on the original switch, but the Switch 2 spec proposed by the leak should be sufficient to handle such a frame rate boost. Nintendo has yet to say whether the backward compatible Switch games will be upgraded on the Switch 2.
