Xenoblade Chronicles x It may seem like there is a simple combat system. You attract enemies, your character will auto attack, and sometimes, trigger some art.

As you play, you will learn about positioning, combos, overdrive, quick cooldowns and soul voice. These combat mechanics work together to create a complex and complete JRPG battle system.

The game will do its best to guide players and provide multiple tutorials for each feature. But it can feel a bit overdone, especially early on, when you’re still used to things.

The most confusing mechanic is definitely the voice of the soul. That’s why Xenoblade Chronicles x Soul Voice GuideI’ll break it down and explain how it works in a practical way, along with the best strategy for adopting it.

Successfully completing the challenge of the soul raises the morale, represented by the yellow bar beneath the palette of art. The higher the morale, the more active the soul’s voice is, but it is difficult to complete the challenge.

It’s easy to choose the voice of the soul for your character Press Start, go to the party and select the Spirit Voice. However, this may seem overwhelming for the first time.

There are 16 soul voice triggers possible, 12 fixed and 4 customizable.

Every soul’s voice has two characteristics.

  • Trigger Condition: Actions you need to take to get the opportunity to activate the challenge of your soul.

Many arts have bonus effects, such as attacking enemies from the side or back, or performing brawls or ranged combos. These are counted as special effects of art.

To make things easier, A visual cues – a small exclamation point above the art – indicates that the following uses activate special effects: So always prioritize them.

This applies to all soul voices, whether you start fighting a long-range weapon, using certain art or breaking monster appendages.

Even if the state of the soul’s voice is fulfilled, there is no guarantee that a soul challenge will occur.

All soul voices come in three different types of voices, each of which is Various effects given after successfully completing the soul challenge.

These are usually melee or ranged attack bonuses, but can also include buffs, enemy debuffs, or soul healing.

The choice of voice type is highly dependent on the build. My main class is AstralCrusader, focusing on Arsed Arts. Therefore, I always prioritize the type that enhances sniper attacks.

There are also four customizable soul voices, ranging from “3-second sprints in battle” to odd specific conditions such as “healed by female characters.”

You can use more universal triggers that work regardless of class or party composition, or you can micromanage the voice of the soul with every change of group.

All party members also have their own soul voices. These are not editable and are active differently.

Sometimes, fighter comrades will invoke commands in the middle of a fight –That’s your clue to follow up on certain art And it causes the effect of their soul voice.

Honestly, it’s hard to tell what party members want, based solely on their orders, especially when the fight is chaotic.

Fortunately, Whenever you can activate the voice of the soul of your party members, one of your arts in the bar shines. If used at that moment, it triggers a bonus effect.

Take a look at the screenshot above. Yelv’s dialog box caused my remote art. Therefore, they have a yellow glow around them.

In short, if the sparkling art is brawl or far away, you will do more damage. If it’s support, debuffs, or aura, you’ll probably heal the whole party.

It’s worth paying attention to the party suggestions. You can’t even count the number of times your teammates survived a fight just because they can trigger a soulful voice and heal everyone.

Don’t unconsciously spam your art. Sometimes it’s worth waiting for the soul voice of party members to get an additional bonus on top of the secondary cooldown feature.
