Take a deep breath and remember: the delay is good.
Okay, that statement isn’t everytime It’s true, but that’s normal. Delayed projects sometimes bring bad games (see you, Duke Nukem 3D), but spending more time often produces good ones. Take great care to get something right, and what is important in the art is important. Think about the number of games that have been semi-finished that you’ve purchased and played so far. After that, I hoped that the publisher would be right and be late until they were ready. Do you have that idea in your head? Okay, I’ll keep it.
GTA 6 teeth delayand that’s a good thing. Because that’s probably better for delays.
Rockstar has a long history of slowing down games to slow them down. Make sure the market is ready. This is an incredibly consistent discipline that places it alongside Nintendo in the elite freternity waiting for the casserole to be fully cooked. And boy, is it always delicious?
I’ve been playing GTA games as long as they exist. I played the most obscure (London 1969), the best (GTA V), and the true best (DS Chinatown War). I have been destroying, crashing, crashing and filming these goofy, amazing worlds for decades. Thankfully, these games are virtually always behind… not by chance, they are always great. There are all the delays (and the Red Dead too) in GTA history.
Grand Theft Auto III
Rockstar’s New York office is just a few blocks from the World Trade Center and wasted no time delaying the GTA III for a short time after the September 11 attack. . Marketing VP Terry Donovan Delay has been announced Just a few days after the tragedy:
“Our decisions are based on two factors. First, it was a bit difficult to get the job done in downtown Manhattan last week, as basic communications infrastructure is intermittent at best. Second, we felt absolutely necessary for us in the light of the horrifying events we witnessed last week.
“When it comes to Grand Theft Auto, the game is so big, reviews aren’t a short process. So far, we’ve come across certain small contextual references that aren’t comfortable anymore. They’re hitting the shelf in late October.”
Even with minimal content changes, delays were a wise decision for rock stars and players too. No one would have appealed to anyone to blow up police and ambulances in Liberty City shortly after the violent deaths of thousands.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
The shortest delayed joint prize will be shared between Vice City and San Andreas. Back in the old days before downloadable game stores and patches for the day, manufacturers have guessed in advance how much physical products they need to produce on a particular shelf day, and sometimes they are wrong. Rockstar delayed Vice City By 7 days, it gives you time to manufacture more disks (and therefore meets the incredible daily demand for follow-up of the GTA III).
PS2’s San Andreas also hit the street a week later than planned. A strategic decision designed to provide a few extra days to hone the two-year project to the development team.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Well, a very real story: GTA handheld games are hard… it gets so intense it’s worth trying your ancient PlayStation Portable or DS. The GTA’s excellent foray into the portable usually arrives on time, but Vice City Stories on PSP 2 weeks late Long in North America and parts of Europe.
All of those best GTAs (fighting me!) didn’t arrive on time exactly. Incredibly creative and complex DS GameChit shelf Two months later More than expected. When it finally arrived, it blew the critics’ socks, and it’s one of the big tragedy of the game where no one bought it… We might play Chinatown Wars 3 with our new Switch 2 if they had.
Grand Theft Auto IV
After GTA III changed the video game landscape, GTA IV predictions were clear. With Crunky Renderware still in place and a whole new generation of consoles working together, Rockstar Leeds was aiming for the stratosphere. It was ultimately demanded to bring their vision into reality. A few months delay.
As explained by Sam Hause of Rockstar, “The new console (PS3 and 360) allows us to create the Grand Theft Auto game we’ve always dreamed of. Every aspect of the game and its design is completely converted. The hardware platform is pushing to absolute limits. Our goal is to surpass even the wildest expectations of gaming fans and create the ultimate high-resolution video gaming experience.”
Grand Theft Auto v
The biggest console game ever was a long time. The GTA V finally landed in September 2013, but was originally expected to arrive in the spring of the same year. However, in late January 2013, Rockstar has released the following message:
“I know this is about four months behind the original plan. I know this short delay will be disappointing many of you, but trust us, it’s worth the extra time. GTAV is a very ambitious and complicated game, and more importantly, more importantly, you need it. If we don’t exceed your expectations, we’re doing everything we can – thank you for your support and patience.”
They weren’t wrong. GTA V has become the most successful console game of all time and, along with RDR2, is the true gem of the Rockstar Crown.
Red Dead Redemption 2

Speaking of RDR2…it’s not part of the GTA series, but it’s the best Rockstar game and I love talking about it. In line with Rockstar’s quality-based delay tradition, I’ll add a bit of an appendix by mentioning that Red Dead Redemption 2 is delayed twice. First time in Spring 2017 For quality assurance. Second delay I came in February 2018 and pushed RDR2 to late October. Rockstar’s statement explained that this was also a quality issue.
“We look forward to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26, 2018. We apologise to everyone who was disappointed with this delay. We wanted to kick the game out faster, but we need a little extra time in Polish.
“We sincerely appreciate your patience and hope you agree that when you play the game you were worth it. Check out in the meantime These screenshots From the game. We look forward to sharing more information with you in the coming weeks. ”
This delay, like everyone else here, was swimming, and thus offered an unparalleled piece of art in the adventure game.
So friends, don’t despair. The GTA 6 comes, and when it comes it will almost certainly be very good. See you at Vice City.
