I’ll be waiting. A while ago, Ubisoft teased the release of Siege X, an upcoming overhaul of the Rainbow Six Siege Experience. Today we got a trailer drop.
The trailer shows you some new features that appear in the game, with the footage you need to see everything. How to play the game for free, new 6V6 game modes, lighting and texture improvements, and even pull up around corners!
By playing free access, new players will offer a more limited version of the game. For example, you cannot play Ranking. However, the unranked QuickPlay, and the new “dual front” modes are all at your disposal.
As for the dual front itself, the mode is the 6V6 experience of the new map “district”. This mode breaks the standard that the Rainbow Six siege has set for a decade. You can mix attackers and defenders. It also has a “dynamic purpose” that leads to a variety of engagements across the map. It further blurs the line between attack and defense.
With dual fronts, operator gadgets are cooled down rather than completely restricted, and respawn when they die. In mode, operators can be replaced when respawned. But this is not Killm engagement. To claim victory, you need to help your team achieve some dynamic objectives.
PC gamers have described the mode as a “turbo siege,” and have said they are still relatively tolerant of all that confusion. “There’s a bit of moba there too,” they say.
Ubisoft offers players the opportunity to try the Siege X Beta Test for themselves, but it is not something you can sign up for. They provide access codes via Twitch Drops, so you’ll need to watch the selected streamers play the Siege of Rainbow Six for a while first.
Also, courtesy of Ubisoft, there is another system requirement for beta testing. The exact statistics can be found in the blog post.
Ubisoft offers a clearer view of the Rainbow Six Siege X.
In a series of YouTube videos, Ubisoft reveals some aspects of the Siege X in more detail. There are four videos in all. One each is a new Rappel system, audio overhaul, environmental destruction and graphical enhancements.
For rappelling, you can sprint to the wall and move along the corner of the wall. The video also saw behind the scenes some MoCap actors doing their things.
As for the environment, there are several new ways to break things. The prominent placement pipe of flammable gases can shoot fire extinguishers and create clouds of smoke… exactly what you expect.
In the audio department, everything is designed to help “detect enemy actions better.” Sound effects should have greater directional accuracy and better locate enemies.
The graphical bonus is more visible than described – fortunately, the video format makes it very simple. This is a graphical upgrade of bread and butter. The texture and lighting are big.
All this information is collected in Megas Reed of the Rainbow Six Siege Sub Reddit. Fans will discuss changes throughout the game and their impact.
