  • Project U is Ubisoft’s hero shooting game to compete against Marvel rivals

summary

  • Ubisoft’s Project U is an in-developed hero shooting game to compete with Marvel Rivals and Overwatch.
  • The game was once “on ice” and was reworked, but it is still working on it and more leaks are expected.
  • Given Ubisoft’s history with live service games, Project U could be played for free if it was released.

Is there room for another hero shooter to fit into game time? Whether you’re playing anything else, like Marvel’s rivals, Overwatch 2, Smite 2, or whatever, Ubisoft wants to have room for another space.

The company’s long-standing hero shooter game using Working Codename Project U leaked the opening intro. Check it out yourself to see the character designs Ubisoft is aiming for.

According to the video uploader, Ubisoft “still holds this game.” It’s “on ice,” and has since been reworked, and the publishers are still working on it.

Expect more leaks to surface, as video uploaders say “Faster.”

On Reddit, various members of the community rang about the game. One verified user said, “You can see that Ubisoft still holds this game.”

Another commented on the project and seemed to be based on closed tests, which made me so impressed. “Ah, this. I, um, I don’t remember if a player had to sign the NDA, but let’s say I know the guy who played this once. This guy can’t really remember the desire to play another time, not me,” Redditor said.

Ubisoft has not announced the game and it is currently unknown if the project is still in development. If so, there is a difficult climb, and it doesn’t seem like it’s about to wander, given how popular Marvel’s rivals are.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently said he hopes to release more live and open world games by the company, so Project U should fit that bill. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but unless Ubisoft is looking for this to be a premium product with boxes, this is likely another free-to-play effort.

The latest multiplayer project to watch the company’s releases didn’t even last a year. I’m mentioning Xdefiant. While escaping the gate, it was unable to maintain momentum, and in June 2025 it was announced that the server would be closure.

Apart from Xdefiant, Ubisoft has many misfires after the live service formula. There were free-to-play Battle Royale Hyperscapes and Roller Champions. Of course, every time it fails, the company can refer to something like the Rainbow Six Siege, which it spent 10 years as evidence of its plan. can work.

Do you think there’s another space for hero shooters in the market? And if it sees the light of day, are you happy to try the project?
