Witcher 3 will get another patch in the second half of 2025, bringing cross-platform mod support to the game, making mods available on consoles for the first time.

CD Projekt has announced the patch as part of the Witcher 3 10th anniversary celebration. We will introduce cross-platform mod support for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S later this year. “For the first time, creating, sharing and enjoying mods for Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is easier and more accessible than ever,” says CD Projekt.

Cross-Platform MOD support will be released in a game update released later this year. To access cross-platform mod support, you must connect to your CD Projekt Red account using your mod.io account. Existing modification services are still available. This means that players do not need to use Mod.io to upload and download mods for Witcher 3. However, to access the console mods, you need mod.io.

Xbox Series X and S5 players can enjoy playing the myriad mods available through cross-platform mod support, but mods must be created with mod creators like Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Redkit.

This is a great update for a game from 10 years ago. It’s extremely popular and maintains a healthy number of players even after its release.

The game won hundreds of awards and solidified its studio status, but more importantly it brought hours of adventure and emotion to millions of games around the world. Since its release, we are proud to announce that Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies, securing a place among the best-selling video games in all history, and motivating them to continue intensive work on the next trilogy set in this universe.

This is a reference to The Witcher 4, which is currently fully produced. Of the 730 developers of CD Projekt, 422 are working on the sequel, but this won’t be available early until 2027.
