tHe made his last PC debut with a surprising and disastrous launch for our final part 1 on the platform, and an amazingly disastrous launch to it, which didn’t necessarily go as Naughty Dog or Sony would have hoped, but the excitement was still high for our Part 2, which was remastered to head to PC. Of course, it’s helpful that the game itself is an absurd masterpiece of stealth, horror and storytelling, but the upcoming Season 2 premiere of the acclaimed HBO adaptation has also been added to the hype.
Ahead of the game’s imminent PC release, Naughty Dog has released new details about what players can expect from the latest release of the game, along with Iron Galaxy Studios and Nixxes software (both providing development support for upcoming ports). Such details have been revealed in the PC-specific features of Part 2 Remastered, the technology they boast under the hood, and the new content they bring to the table. Here we will introduce all of it.
Enhance technology and visual vision
Naughty Dog promises many improvements and platform-specific technical features with the PC release of Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. First of all, upscaling and frame generation will be available through FSR 3.1 and 4 support for DLSS 4 and AMD. This is of course not the end of technical and visual enhancements. In addition to native 4K and 3D audio support, the game will be available to play in 21:9 ultra wide resolution and 32:9 ultra wide resolution. Support for 48:9 resolution and triple monitor setup has also been confirmed. Additionally, players can expect frame rates without frame rates, frame rate cap options, and VSYNC support.
More PC features
We haven’t finished the last US Part 2 PC enhancements and high tech upgrades yet. As you can imagine, graphics options allow more customizability, allowing players to adjust the surrounding blockage, texture quality, reflection quality, LOD distance range, shadow quality, and volume quality. Naughty Dog explicitly states that the port “has features with features designed specifically for PCs,” so it is not accused of high expectations in the sector.
control
On PC, the final US Part 2 remaster will obviously be playable with a dual sense controller. That means you can expect support for the controller’s adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and other features, like last year’s PS5 release. Plus, as you can imagine, there is also full support for keyboard and mouse controls. Players can expect fully re-apply controls and primary and secondary binding options. Above all, the game also promotes adaptive modes that allow you to combine controllers and keyboard input.
Further improvements
Beyond the main technology features and enhancements we have discussed so far, our last part 2’A PC port has other, smaller (still welcome) improvements. Naughty Dog promises many bug fixes, improvements to quality of life for a few other people, and “various improvements that provide the smoothest possible play experience.” Meanwhile, the developers also say the game is compatible with handheld gaming PCs, but no steam deck confirmation has been officially confirmed yet. That said, the surprisingly modest PC requirements for the port (which we reach a little) certainly suggest that Valve’s device optimization is not an issue.
No new return characters
When the last time we were remastered at Part 2, which was released last year, it added a major new mode in the form of Roguelike No Return. It’s no surprise that with the upcoming PC release of the game, Naughty Dog is also getting the opportunity to add new return content. If a character roster is involved, that means that in the form of Bill and Marlene, both from the first game, they will play two new characters. Bill can use his smuggling skills by grabbing a shotgun from a dead drop and getting double rewards from a regular drop. It also does not have the ability to evacuate, but it is also resistant to melee attacks. Meanwhile, Marlene can use custom assault rifles, new gambits and more.
No new return map
In addition to the new characters with PC ports, Last of Us Part 2 Remastered adds four new maps for players to check out. Each is the location of a single player campaign. What’s overlooked is the city of Seattle, with plenty of verticality. Fan-favorite locations include Hillcrest, some dilapidated buildings, overgrown streets, plenty of hiding places and neighbourhoods with ample space for the genocide. There are also some abandoned primary schools, but also neat places that are particularly dangerous places where Abby will be brave and brave in his campaign.
Minimum and Recommended Requirements
The complete system requirements for the PC version of the final US Part 2 have also been revealed, and at least at a lower setting, it is rather modest and everything is taken into account. For example, at minimum settings, you’ll need either the I3-8100 or the Ryzen 3 1300X or the GeForce GTX 1650 or the Radeon RX 5500XT to run the game at 720p and 30 fps. On the other hand, the recommended settings require either the I5-8600 or the Ryzen 5 3600, the GeForce RTX 3060 or the Radeon RX 5700 for 1080p and 60 FPS gameplay.
High and very high requirements
For those who want to play Part 2 at the end on the PC’s higher settings, a higher setup will also be available. Higher requirements run the game at 1440p and 60 frames. Required with either the I7-9700K or Ryzen 7 3700X and either the GeForce RTX 3070 or the Radeon RX 6800. Meanwhile, very high settings will also be available, and you will need to run the game on 4K and 60 FPS, running either I7-11700 or I7-1700. RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900XT. All settings also require an SSD and a whopping 150 GB of free storage. Minimum, recommended and high settings require 16 GB of RAM, while very high settings require 32 GB.
psn is not required
Sony unfortunately x itself in the foot with the last few PC releases by making the PlayStation network account a mandatory link, but thankfully the company has returned with that controversial phone. Our final part 2 remaster will continue to support PlayStation overlays and trophies on PCs, but linking to the PSN account is purely optional this time. Those who link their accounts will get in-game bonuses, but speaking of that…
Bonus skin
Players who link their PSN accounts while playing Action Adventure Remaster on PC were released last December, based on Jordan A. Mun, the protagonist of Naughty Dog’s upcoming sci-fi action adventure title, Intergalactic. Additionally, account links cover you with 50 bonus points. This can be spent on a return-free purchase.
