Final Fantasy Work and Story Beats Get Closer to Magic: The Gathering
Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 14 cards feature the “Job Select” keyword. The Job Select Card generates hero tokens and automatically attaches itself to reflect the Final Fantasy Job Mechanic.
These job select cards include White Mage Staff, Artifact Equipment Cards that automatically install one color, one white and one mana, generate a 1/1 hero. Staff can equip someone else and leave only poor 1/1 hero tokens.
The Terra mechanism refers to the world of the Doom Section in Final Fantasy 6. She is able to mill cards and, if she does damage the player, the owner can pay two to summon creatures of less than three costs from the graveyard, reforming the party in Act 2.
There are cards that reflect certain moments, such as Aerith Gainsborough giving other legendary creatures a +1/+1 counter when she dies. It also requires that all players sacrifice it in the process, as happened before the events of Final Fantasy 14.
Summoning, a creature from the Saga, is well known, but Final Fantasy crossover features the first ever adventure land, with Zanarkand from Final Fantasy 10 being one of them. This not only serves as a land, but also uses six additional mana effects. This creates a hero token of +1/+1 tokens for each additional land.
There’s a lot going on in Final Fantasy X Magic. It’s a gathering crossover set that will excite longtime fans of video game franchise. What’s already making this set so popular is those little nods and a bit of fan service.
