Summer is the best time to play, but when you think about it, it’s a bit odd. It’s only weeks that I get more excited about watching the game’s trailer rather than playing the game. Of course, it’s all justified reasons, and multiple big presentations, which were the frameworks that put up E3, introduce the most exciting new games in development, often revealing new projects for the first time. Naturally they’re attracting a huge amount of interest as they are our first taste of what we’ll play tomorrow and beyond.

To see what actually caught the attention of the players, we have looked into all the videos posted on Passthecontroller over the last few weeks and picked out the 10 most watched trailers from the game’s summer. There are some clear standouts that record millions of views, mixing highly anticipated returns with brand new surprises. You can see the biggest and best trailers below.

1. Resident Evil Requiem

View count: 2.1 million

Perhaps not surprising, Resident Evil 9 was a huge hit in the summer of Game 2025. Resi fans have been waiting for this one, which Requiem’s predecessor, Resident Evil Village, was released in 2021. This first trailer provides a solid introduction to FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. I couldn’t be more excited as she appears to be heading towards a bombed raccoon city. While much of the trailer is set in Ashcroft’s office, the final segment is fierce into the dark and brave survival horror tone established in Resident Evil 7. It makes clear that developer Capcom is trying to fool us. I can’t wait.

2. With invincibility

View count: 2.1 million

The animated version of Prime Video of Robert Kirkman’s invincible comics has proven to be extremely popular, so naturally, the invincible video game captured the imagination of many gamers this week. Invincible VS is a 3V3 tag fighting game that appears to actually capture the bone-shattering, bloody violence of a TV show. The promise of a showdown between the city-destructing invincible and Omniman is enough to sell us with this idea, but seeing other characters appearing in tag-style matches like Atom Eve and Rex Plode really want to learn more.

3. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros

View count: 1.5 million

People may complain about the final season of Game of Thrones to this day, but that doesn’t mean that the fantasy series has lost popularity. That’s evidenced by the vast number of views on the war in the Westeros trailer, which acts as something like “What if?” scenario. The film trailer watches John Snow face the Night King in a one-on-one duel. This is a thrilling event that never happened on the HBO show. As the battle continues, other exciting, but equally non-canon moments unfold, such as Daenerys and Drogon being shot from the sky by giant baristas. But the big surprise is seeing John being killed and transformed into Wight. As many of the comments in the trailer said, this could have been the big finale season 8.

4. disease

View count: 1.3 million

Resident Evil is again the most affection for the horror release this year, but I’m glad to see the grotesque gameplay trailer for illness hit the chords. This terrifying, rusty-looking survival horror is full of some of the strangest enemies I’ve seen recently. For example, zombies with desperate need to see dentists are the strangest enemies we’ve seen recently. Thanks to the “advanced demolition system,” they can all be torn apart. Despite its roughness, Il knows how to solve a good joke. An equally attractive SGF trailer ends the entire sequence as a zombie toddler gets kicked in the face and punted by a pile of barrels. A little dark humor, there to brighten up your summer games.

5. Spread: Osiris Reborn

View count: 1.2 million

RPG expert Oowlcat Games is back with a new project set in The World of the Expanse. However, Osiris Reborn is very different from Owlcat’s previous projects. The studio is usually developing isometric RPGs that take inspiration from both games, such as the original Baldur gate and tabletop adventure. And considering how long it’s been since we had a good mass effect, it’s no wonder the internet has become wild due to this long trailer. This trailer combines exciting cinemas with grenades and facial crystals to demonstrate healthy gameplay montages and face cover shading mechanisms.

6.007 First Light

Number of displays: 835,000

The Bond game for IO Interactive was announced a few years ago, but we were able to finally see it working as part of PlayStation’s State of Play Stream. The coolest thing about this trailer is how they treat First Light as if it were a new 007 movie, and showcases a new cast that plays M, Q and of course James Bond and more. Our super spy heroes are much younger and greener than we used to be, but it’s clear that IOI know everything it takes for a hit bond mission. There are more betting action than the exotic locations, expensive watches, vintage Aston Martin and the entire Hitman trilogy combined. It seems that IOI really has a thrill license.

7. RogXbox Ally x

Number of displays: 822,000

New hardware is always attracting a lot of attention, so it’s no surprise to see a handheld Xbox in the most viewed trailer. Of course, the ROG Xbox Ally X isn’t very True Handheld Xbox – This portable PC is developed by ASUS rather than Microsoft itself, and is an extension of the existing line of the Rog Ally device. However, this is the next step in Microsoft’s “Xbox” project, aimed at being able to play Xbox games from consoles to computers, TVs, phones and (probably one day) fridges. A powerful handheld PC that can interface directly with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Services is certainly nothing to smell.

8. Atomic Heart 2

View count: 796,000

The original Atomic Heart’s first trailer was a major hit with Passthecontroller’s audience, but the sequel was by no means certain. The receptions for the first game were mixed together, and the trailer suggested not to succeed Bioshox Spiritual. Nonetheless, Atomic Heart 2 appears to be doing it once more. This time it looks very vast around things. There are space stations, wall-running, hang gliding, mecha and other vehicles, and there are things that look like a much more active world with more characters. It’s all rendered in Atomic Heart’s distinctive retro, rich Soviet punk art style. Well, aside from Cube, it’s a multiplayer game set in the Atomic Heart Universe, which was also announced at this summer’s Game Fest.

9. SonicRacing: Crossworlds

View count: 720,000

The only kart racing game that everyone cares for in June 2025 is Mario Kart World, but Sonic Racing’s latest trailer: Crossworlds really popped out. While it may depend on Sonic undoubtedly experiencing his most important popular spikes over the years (and certainly thanks to the film), this new trailer also helps to show off the addition of an exciting guest to the character roster. There are also courses based on Minecraft. This suggests even greater ambitions regarding interdimensional racing.

10. Chronicle: Medieval

Number of displays: 708,000

The Chronicle trailer has little gameplay: Medieval, but just a few seconds reveal that we lead the whole army out of the horse. It promises a grand scale. Perhaps similar to what was explored in the Mount & Blade series. The CGI film procedure, which offers a glimpse into the gameplay, presents the life experiences of medieval warriors, from simple village life to forging weapons and enduring cavalry charges. Chronicle: If the Middle Ages can capture all of that, then all the excitement around this trailer is well worth it.

Honorable mention

There are also several other trailers that demand honorable mentions. Naturally, in the trailer showcase, it was not surprising to see both Metal Gear’s Solid Delta, as the highly deadly sequels and remakes always work. It’s too long since there was a new MGS game, and Delta isn’t a brand new entry, but it’s definitely a glossy remake of the best game at least in Kojima’s back catalogue. Meanwhile, Life on Life was a breakout hit in the discharge match in 2022. Obviously, people are excited to wield even the weapons they have in the sequel.

Marvel has also achieved considerable success, but it wasn’t the ambitious PlayStation 4V4 tag team game Marvel Tocon Fighting Souls portrayed in the crowd. Instead, it was Deadpool VR and its athletic and violent behavior. From hacking a man’s head with a katana and then bowling with another enemy to pushing someone’s face against the propeller, it really seems like a real Deadpool experience. And since it’s VR, I know this isn’t a canned animation, it’s all player controlled. I can’t wait to see the horrible possibilities.

But returning your favorites is probably not as exciting as the truly new one, and joining MGS, Life 2, and Deadpool of “over half a million clubs” is a Dawnwalker and clockwork revolution. The former is a new RPG from the previous CD Projekt Red developers, and looks like a new take on Witcher’s recipe with Bloodhirsty Vampires. Meanwhile, the latter comes from Inxile’s RPG Long Beard, with over five minutes of trailer diving deep into the steampunk world, role-playing mechanics and time travel systems.

Of course, Passthecontroller is not the only place where people go to trailers on the internet. Also, check out the official PlayStation and Xbox YouTube channels. You will also see similar statistics. 007 First Light was a big winner on the PlayStation, with almost 3 million viewers, and Resident Evil Requiem was closely followed. Ill and Silent Hill F also received over 1 million views each, and Gears of War: Reloaded marked the series’ arrival on the Sony console for the first time, but it saw over 500,000 viewers. As for Xbox, the brand new Rog Xbox Ally X Handheld PC has over a million viewers, and Persona 4 revival, Super Meat Boy 3D, and the Reincarnated Beast all recorded hundreds of thousands of viewers.

But what was your personal favorite trailer for the event? Please let us know in the comments. Alternatively, vote in the poll below.
