Below you will find the main spoilers for Andor Season 2 episodes 1-3.
Almost three years later, Andre’s long-awaited second season arrived at Disney+. It takes place in a lead-up to Rogue One: A Star Wars story (which itself leads directly to Episode IV (a new hope),) and Andor follows both the Rebel and Empire characters as he fights for control of the galaxy.
The first three episodes of season 2 were full of action, drama, heartbreak, and some of the funniest scenes of the show so far. I’ll talk only with Passthecontroller Star Wars celebration In Tokyo, the cast spoke in depth about some of the most surprising moments in episodes 1-3.
Cassian Andale is struggling to fly the Tie Avenger.
In the opening scene of Episode 1, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) works with a nervous masked spy to steal Tie Fighter (particularly the 1994 Star Wars: TIE Fighter PC game) from Sienar’s Imperial Testing Facility on Earth. And instead of cleverly manipulating the ship out of the building and off the planet, Cassian sneaks into the cockpit and doesn’t know how to fly it. This leads to a comical sequence in which he awkwardly and slowly rushes through the interceptors around the flight hanger before he blows the door and almost flies off the cliff. Luna explains that the sequence had deeper meaning for comedy.
“The fun is over 4 minutes!” Luna Joke. “No, I think there’s a lot of humor this season. It’s not that we were looking for or looking for it, but it’s just implicit. That’s why we weren’t going to have comedic moments, but this guy who fights his ignorance, but it’s a lot of fun. The humor around.”
Bix moves on from Dr. Golst.
After what can only be explained as a traumatic ending Season 1 If she is brutally tortured by the evil Dr. Golst, Adria arjona continues to deal with the results more than a year later. Evacuated to Brasso, Wilmon, droid B2EMO and Minarau, Bix sees a ghost in her dream. Arjona says when she first met Bix in the beginning of season 2 she is doing well, but still struggling.
“When I left Vix in Season 1,” says Arjona. “She was at the lowest point where she could thank Dr. Golst. When we first met her in Season 2, we look like a parallel version of Vix in Season 1 Episode 1. She’s going to get over this.”
Dedra and Cyril make it official.
At the end of season one, Imperial Security Director Dedra Mello (Dennis Goff) and mid-level bureaucrat Cyril Khan (Kyle Solar) literally figuratively – related. Cyril told Dedra that he inspired him both in his career and life. Dedora is saved by Cyril after a group of rioters almost overwhelmed her with Felix. Solar says that the events of Season 1 left Cyril – he is now officially associated with Dedora – a transformed man.
“(Cyril) felt good and I leaned over it,” says Solar. “It was a joy to be able to play with Cyril, show his wings and try to bend it a little, and I want to continue climbing that ladder, his (new) relationship with Dedora to influence him, his mother, his relationship with the Empire, his own desires, and continue to climb that ladder.
Cyril’s mother comes to dinner.
Probably the breakout character from Andor season 1 was Khan Eddie (Kathryn Hunter) Cyril’s overwhelming and mediocre mother. In season 2, episode 3, Eddie visits Dedra and Cyril in the apartment, leading to an incredibly humorous and nasty dinner where Dedra firmly places Eddie in her place. Eddie quickly realizes that it’s not usually trivial and that Dedora is not the one who ruins either.
“It’s a really interesting scene,” Goff says. “But to me, Kaylin Hunter is a legend. I’ve known her for a long time and was very excited. The great thing about that scene is that when working with people like Kathryn, she’s live wired, so she doesn’t make any obvious choices.
“So what appears to be a threat on the page will be a room negotiation. So I went to her to Dedra and she gave me an eddie.
Mon Mothma is curious about her.
The first batch of Andor Season 2 episodes ends with a montage in which Cassian rescues Bix and Wilmon from Mina-Rau (but not Brasso, who was tragically killed by the Stormtroopers), is Cinta Chawfeurs Mon Mothma (Genevieve o’Reilly)’s childhood friend Tay Koma is destined to be uncertain? However, O’Reilly says that the seemingly out-of-place scenes have deeper meaning. Mon just realizes that Tay can no longer trust him and may meet up at an early end. Plus, she has just married a young girl and funds an early rebellion, and decides that Mon should be evacuated to the dance floor.
“It was an extraordinary day,” explains O’Reilly. “It was the second shoot from my last day. It felt like a very beautiful crescendo. It felt like a big piece at the end of three episodes of the wedding. Tony and I are actually a woman trying to exercise the chaos that is in her brain, perhaps from the outside.
