Atelier The franchise is one of the oldest franchises from popular game studio Gusto. It is undoubtedly one of the company’s biggest franchises and claims its fame. Since its release in the 1990s Atelier He won numerous awards and saw his 25th entry Atelier Yumia: The alchemist of memories and imagined lands.
One thing fans are worried about about this game is the feeling. On several occasions, Gust said he wanted to take the franchise in a different direction that encouraged more players to dive into their world. In an age where a single game can completely change a franchise, this is not something that many fans want to hear.
When you play the game, it feels like the same franchise that many of our fans have loved from the start. However, it seems to be a lot of what fans of the series have said over the years and have kept that in mind, and it seems to be on the gust. Yumia feels like a complete overhaul of something typical Atelier The main character, and the storyline proves how different she is From the previous one.
More mature hero
It is set in a world where even the idea of using alchemy is overlooking. Yumia wants more than she was given, especially after learning that she comes from a long line of alchemists.
The Aradician Empire, once respected the alchemists, is now feared and shunned. As someone who wants answers to this strange hatred of the alchemist and someone who wants answers for herself as to who she is, Yumia is trying to change her interests.
One of the main things fans have expressed concern in the past is the game’s storyline and protagonist. In the final two sets of the game, Ryza and Sophie were both great protagonists, but their storyline was lacking. The previous two main characters were much younger than Ymia, so their game appears a little younger,
Yumia is 21 years old and is looking for her purpose in life. Players can walk with her as she matures and realizes her potential.
With Yumia Her character designs only distinguish her from her previous protagonist and show how the game matured Shows changes in the storyline. For the first time in the series, fans were shocked at how dark her storyline became, showing a significant change in the way these games were written. One thing that makes Yumia really cool is that she has her own motorcycle.
Yumia is 21 years old and is looking for her purpose in life. Players can walk with her as she matures and realizes her potential. You can see the hero reaching a pivotal moment when they have to decide who they will become and why.
As someone who grew up in a franchise, seeing these protagonists’ age and storyline changes made me feel like the franchise is growing with me.
Brand new concept with roots in the past
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and Imagined Lands Do exactly what Gust tried to do when they said they were going to remake the system to appeal to a larger audience.
As someone who played previous games in the series, I loved overhauling various systems. They all belong to the franchise and felt that they felt something unique and fresh these days. Plus, the game has one of the best craft systems you’ve seen in JRPGs, and is on par with the others in the franchise.
An entry into this game gives you a feeling that the focus is on action-heavy combat systems, allowing players to flirt with different builds and create the perfect character and team. One drawback to this is I realized I avoid a lotAnd many players will probably need to spend a lot of time getting used to combat.
Some fans of the series may feel the need to increase the difficulty for more attractive combat, but I felt that playing by default is a good thing for most people, especially if you’re the first time you want to join the franchise.
There is no decision to beat the game that could happen if you find yourself struggling to fight, so try different settings.
Another change in this game is the overhaul of the synthetic system, particularly in relation to combat. In previous games of the franchise, I felt like I was shattering to use this system, but the world of Yumia takes a completely different approach.
Previously, you had to manage the synthesized items and what items you wanted to use in battle. This took the right amount of time, and sometimes it meant life and death in battle.
Thankfully, You can equip these items (players can equip up to four items at once). This allows you to increase the number of actions you can do in combat, and you can easily switch between these consumables, making it much easier than if you had to manage everything at once.
The vast open world of Yumia
One of the game’s most exciting new features is the open world concept. The franchise’s final game settled on the idea of giving players a more free world, but this entry is the first to jump into it. You will be given free reins to explore the world and take your party to where you like. There are plenty of places to explore, items to collect, and places to adventure.
Unfortunately, this also leads to one of the game’s only downfalls. Open worlds are amazing, but can be crossed forever. What really threw me away is the random encounter quest you come across along your journey.
When I first stumbled, I was excited to see what I was obsessed with, but these “quests” were one of the things I felt like I had taken me out of the world of Yumia. You can find them anywhere you go. All they do is pop up saying there’s a random encounter quest and spend a few minutes killing monsters nearby before finishing the quest.
These moments didn’t add anything to the game itself and seemed forced.
Ambitious steps in the right direction
whole, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and Imagined Lands There are some quirks, but that’s what you would expect, especially if the game is taking a very big step and reworking many of its systems.
There was no time when any of the small mechanical problems I experienced felt like they were in the way of experiencing the game the way it was intended. In fact, the only moment I had problems was when a lot was happening at once, and the volume was a bit choppy when I played on a steam deck instead of a PC.
In that note, it was seamless to navigate between your PC and Steam deck, and there was no need to revise the graphics settings.
I felt that regarding the various changes that were made in the game Gust worked with games and did an amazing job working to create a brand new world that felt like it belonged to the franchise. We’ve found that some small changes are things that fans need to get used to (such as how to use items in battles, etc.), but there’s nothing that actually throws away the average return player.
The main thing that caught my attention is to see a small change with them when randomly encountered quests make them question what their purpose is and sometimes they need to look back at the instructions of a particular system.
Plus, we hope that English voices have been cast for the game. I love subtitles and would have played the game the way I did anyway, but having the English dubbing of the game would help people in the way they need it from an accessibility standpoint.
This game is extremely ambitious in terms of what has been done to the franchise so far, and I think it’s definitely going in the right direction. This is exactly what the game needs in terms of fresh new look, and the open world aspect of the game really created what every game in the franchise wanted to get closer to this. This game is certainly a game that will please players by returning them and seduce new players to take a step into an amazing world. Atelier.
