There’s a lot of love with Nintendo Switch. In particular, it has a wealth of titles with local multiplayer features, making it the perfect console for game nights with friends or casual play sessions with roommates. We’ve collected some of our favourite titles that allow for good old local plays.
It’s also my favorite playstyle as it has given me more excuses to try out new games over the last few years. Local multiplayer makes the ass kicking game more familiar thanks to friends who evoke my character. I also love making something together in real time like a farm Stardew Valleyor causes a joint confusion like Untitled Geese Game‘dangerous cry. Certainly, couch cooperatives mean that they’ll be revived just to ragdoll across the spikes Spelunky2. But it certainly beats dying alone.
And if you’re looking for more platform-independent couch cooperative recommendations, here’s our favorite local multiplayer games, games to play with Valentine’s Day views, and a dear polygon column on couch cooperatives. The last update has been added Super Mario Party Jamboree, LEGO Horizon Adventureand Lamb cult!

If you are in charge of everything, do you realize you are daydreaming about the utopian society you create? Me too, buddy. But starting a cult is more difficult than it looks, so it’s probably better to simulate it Lamb cultroguelike indie darling, where players form new religions through a strangely diverse game loop. Currently, there is a two-person co-op on the Switch, so you and your friends can play as lambs and goats. Try not to be sacrificial –Zoe Hannah

Like all LEGO video games, LEGO Horizon Adventure It allows for single-player play, but playing with friends is the most enjoyable. This redux of Horizon Zero Dawn It went on the switch despite the franchise being Sony IP. This was a good choice for both companies. The game has received surprisingly good reviews of the LEGO version of the existing game, and perhaps represents the first exposure of many young Switch users to the longtime Horizon franchise. Plus, you can’t defeat the LEGO-Y ASMR. – Zh

Bread & Fred Goes viral on social media for hilarious cooperative gameplay. Two penguins are roped in and then set out for a chaotic platform sequence. Two players must work together to cooperate in time jump and precision movements to reach the next level. Simply put, it’s a wild ride. Often, you and your partner will lead to better, more cheerful cooperative sessions – they will fail epicly. Originally released on Windows PCs, it was added to the Nintendo Switch in 2024.Nicole Carpenter

Pikmin 4‘S-Couch Cooperative Mode is very simple and is one of the best games for adults to play with young children. You may find the two adults a bit overwhelming as they are tasked with controlling one character rather than two pilots. The main player controls the pilot, the secondary player controls the game’s cursor and throws pebbles. It’s a completely different experience Pikmin 3but that doesn’t necessarily make it worse – another experience for another player. – n. carpenter

Play as a Yarny (a living ball of thread that looks like a small sprite), and solve puzzles with friends by pulling, yanking and swinging with spare threads. It requires a lot of teamwork. If other local cooperative games allow players to wander and do their own thing, this game is to use each other’s momentum to solve puzzles. – n. Clark

Kirby games tend to be completely cold and incredibly adorable, and this is no exception. in Forgotten land You and another player run, float and fight at 3D levels. In addition to Kirby’s classic sucking input, Forgotten land We also gave us a “Full Mouse Mode.” This allows the Kirby to stretch like a glove over giant objects such as cars and giant light bulbs. (by the way, Kirby Star Allies Local cooperatives are also fun. ) – n. Clark

The stupid collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft has become one of the sleepers of the year of release. This squad tactical game combines Mario and friends with Ravid, the unique doppelganger with the true sea of evil ravids. Local cooperatives are limited to five specific challenges, but I don’t recommend buying specially on cooperative play alone, but these levels are especially fun. Working together will change the tactical dynamics. – n. Clark

There are also new mini-games. This is now a necessary addition, as I forgot how to acquire the existing one. –Zh

For hours and hours of my life I have donated this seemingly simple roguelike bullet. But multiplayer changes everything. Having more reinforcements to combat the waves of attack means that each player can try out a unique combination of weapons and buffs. Make sure you and your teammates stay on the same screen. The screen is not split. – n. Clark

Now, more than 10 years ago, Diablo 3 Especially on the Switch, it’s still a local multiplayer option.
