The Tekken 8 community responded to anger after the Season 2 update changed the game in many controversial ways.
Patch notes revealed the board’s buffs against character damage and offensive pressure. This has led some within the community to complain that Tekken 8 is too far from the classic Tekken experience.
Protecken player Joka said the Season 2 update would mean “this doesn’t feel like a Tekken at all.”
“Characters who are buffed slightly are not insane with little or no counterplay, along with more stance-based transitions that strengthen the 50/50 situation, with more attitude-based transitions. When movement is present in crazy tracking/hitboxes, most heat smashes remove 50/50 situations and are away from Tecken’s foundation.
“Where are the defensive options mentioned?”
As you can imagine, the Tekken 8 Steam page has become a path for players to express their frustration. The game has seen a flood of negative reviews (over 1,100 in the last two days), and recent reviews have received ratings of “almost negative” user reviews.
Read “A really good game stifled by an insane developer of schizophrenia sent from hell” and current “most helpful” reviews.
“The new season fell and they made all the characters into a braindead simple mix-up machine without defending one buff at a time,” another character reads.
“After promised changes to open defensive options, the balance team doubled the very powerful offense that took all agents from defensive players,” another negative review reads.
“Not all characters can continually force 50/50 canned confusion, but it appears that the balance team has no other ideas on how to build a character at this point. It’s a shame to see another legacy fighting game being fully defined by the character’s attacks and circumstances, when there is little response from the defender.”
Some Tekken fans are so upset about what’s going on that they’ve thrown away the game in favor of Capcom’s Street Fighter 6. Other fans have called Season 2 “the worst patch in Tekken history.”
If this patch remains, I don’t know if I’ll continue playing Tekken.
Sorry to sign up, but I thought there would be an opportunity to make it a better game.
I’m really sad.
Like you’re depressed.
I streamed 70 hours of Tekken last week, preparing for the S2, shattering those hopes.

The community now wants communication from the development team to respond to complaints. Some people want to roll back the entire patch. Others want emergency follow-up patches to make important changes.
