Tamagotchi has been known as a stressed toy since childhood, so I had to explain that if my mother sat me down and I wasn’t having fun anymore, it would have been okay to actually stop playing it. As to whether that time-consuming little “pet” will make the final cut, we will have to wait to see if we can beat some of the other candidates. (Around four of the candidates are usually selected annually, but in 2024, five games made the final cut.)
This year there will be some tough competition for Ortamagotti. Also included in the list of potential enrollees The Empire era, angry birds, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Defender, Frogger, Goldeneye 007, Golden Tea, Harvest Moon, Mattel Football, NBA 2Kand earthquake. Candidates will be reviewed with four different indicators: icon status, longevity, geographic reach, and impact. And all of these games have arguments to create in each category.
Journalists and academics form part of the voting agency, but fans also speak out about the voting process. This starts today and continues until March 13th. If you want to vote for a candidate, go to worldvideogamehalloffame.org and scroll to the block with the words “Player Selection Ballot” written on it (or simply use Ctrl+f). There will be one vote per day, but you can only vote one game at a time, so please choose carefully.
