In the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, its official website simply claimed that the console has variable refresh rate (or VRR) support in both docked and unequipped modes. Currently, Nintendo offers official clarification on the scope of feature support in upcoming next-generation consoles.
In a statement to Nintendo’s Life, Nintendo confirmed that Switch 2 only supports VRR in handheld mode. This means that it is not supported in docking mode. The company says that as many have guessed since then, the aforementioned information on its website was mispinned and it apologized for the error.
“Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR in handheld mode only. The incorrect information was first published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website. We apologize for the error.”
But does that mean that we can add a VRR in docking mode as a feature with updates at some point in the future? Nintendo says, “There’s nothing to present on this topic,” but at least that’s not the case.
