One of the most memorable horror games in recent years was a very unique and totally terrifying yet deep alarm. Things quickly get worse when the crew mistakenly delve into something that awakens Lovecraft’s presence from the depths, riding on a Scottish oil rig called Beira D.
Developed by Brighton-based studio The Chinese Room, it may have still run a deep distance under the radar for some gamers last year, but overall, received very positive reviews, with many players particularly celebrating the immersive story and soundtrack.
Well, a year after the original release, Still Wakes The Deep gets a surprising DLC called Siren’s Rest, It is scheduled to be released on June 18thlooks claustrophobic and intense like the original.
This time, held 10 years after the events of the original game, players approach the disaster through the perspective of a research diver named Mhairi.
I’ll revisit the wreckage
Even if you have performed the original story a few times, like me, you will not leave stones with no stones or passages, but you will still awaken the deep.
To be precise that Did it consume the crew of Beira D? What was the purpose of this? How could you induce telepathic hallucinations and physical mutations? These remain unknown. All we know is that no one could escape, and the creature left with the entire rig being brought in thanks to the brave decision of the main character, Cameron “Kazu” McCreeley.
Siren Rest doesn’t seem to focus much on the Gory Monsters in the first game’s grotesque, but you can bet that there is still a surprise among the tangled ruins of fateful oil rigs.
A fully submerged underwater environment opens the door to many new fears and supernatural elements, where additional survival dynamics, such as light and oxygen management, are likely to play a role.
The decision to announce the DLC after last weekend’s showcase event is a bit strange from a marketing perspective, but personally I think this is one of the most exciting announcements of the year.
If you go for more than a week before Siren’s Rest DLC arrives, you will have time to jump for the first time and play the original story. Either way, June is set to make another Scottish Lovecraft horror story come true, and I’m everything for that.
