Fortnite’s Star Wars season dropped its biggest new skins from a distant galaxy. And it surprised fans by locking it behind the 1.28 million XP grind.
Darth Jar jars are now available for purchase from Fortnite stores over the weekend, but only after winning it. And even so, after winning 1.28 million XP, the Darth Jar Jar still costs 1,500 V-Bucks (about $13).
Fortnite previously locked the skin behind the XP requirements, but it only did it once in recent years, rather than the skin expected as one of the key cosmetic releases of this shortened Star Wars season.
A few weeks later, players will have less time to obtain the XP needed for Darth Jar Jar (Fortnite’s Star Wars season ends on June 7th) and anyone who has managed to finish the Battle Pass has a new level of crushing in Go.
“I was so hyped for this skin and, after all, it’s just another skin, so it was okay to be behind the wage wall,” wrote one fan on Reddit in a long thread dedicated to the release of Darth Jar Jar. “But this whole thing locked behind the XP wall is ridiculous. Do you want me to earn the right to give you money? I quickly closed the game.”
Another common complaint is the fact that Darth Jar Jar is released along with the regular Jar Jar Binks skins.
Along with a variety of accessories, both in both SITH and Gungan variations of this skin, you can choose to pay 6,500 V-backs for all of the Jar Jar Bink. This is a lot.
“A regular jar jar is just $20,” another fan wrote. “If you want both, that s**t is a whole 52 ass for something that should be one skin with three styles.”
Meanwhile, others have refuted to say that jars are merely cosmetic options. Ignore him, and your Fortnite rocker will be released from the character as much as George Lucas wanted after the repulsion of the Phantom Menace hit.
“It wasn’t that difficult to win XP. It took me about 8/9 hours,” the third fan wrote. “There were no plans on Saturday. I did it three times in a seat, but all in one day. I did it in rocket racing and ranked it, ranked as many XPs as possible to farm, and did the adjustment challenges.
“There’s nothing to have anyone get all the items from the store you can choose from. And the fact that he was just 1500 V back when his death stroke was 1,800 V back didn’t bother me at all with the price. I was more mad at first than I realized I was already over 300,000 XP.”
Fortnite’s Star Wars season will focus this week on the highly anticipated release of the Mandalorian Warriors and, in turn, the new customizable Mandalorian Skin in the Game Shop.
Epic Games’ Battle Royale will close out their time at Star Wars Galaxy on June 7th with a live narrative event. Fans believe they will see them boarding the Death Star ominously hovering on the island of the game since the start of the season.
Earlier this month, Epic Games’ continued feud with Apple escalated after Fortnite was “blocked” by the US iPhone App Store.
