The Steam Wargames Fest is now in full swing, bringing destruction and conflict to every taste. There are medieval titles like Chivalry 2, Foxhole’s all-out war and chaos, and even trailers for games that have returned from The Dead, like Cold War Shooter 83 from Blue Dot Games.
While experiencing historic battles down different eras, Canadian developer OWI has been chasing players to experience war in current flavors.
Until May 5th, you can pick up your flagship teams for just $14.99 on Steam. This 70% discount is the largest sale since the first release of the title in December 2015.
Battlefield Breaking Race
While the battlefield is unlikely to be the sole motivation for large discounts, it is difficult to imagine that OWI is not trying to consolidate market share ahead of the release of EA’s next big shooter game.
Battlefield has been running a community playtest since early March. It’s too early to draw a final conclusion, but the general consensus is that this may be the first battlefield game worthy of a franchise in the last decade.
As demonstrated in multiple leaks, the main element of being an attractive gamer is its return to a grounded modern war setting. In other words, it’s exactly the same as a team.
Although EA has not committed to the hard release date, it appears that the team is set to achieve the stated goals before Battlefield 6 is announced.
OWI will be moving its team to Unreal Engine 5 in the near future, and the game has already hosted an open playtest weekend that began on April 11th.
While changes to the engine have made visual improvements more noticeable, some players have reported serious performance issues. It is unclear whether these are inherent to engine transitions or if the pain is simply growing.
At $14.99, it’s hard to find the cons to dive into your team while waiting for Battlefield 6 or ARMA 4 to appear.
