His team at Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios did not spare the costs when they created the major levels Divided fiction Because each one is worth noting in its own unique way.
Certainly, you have individual side stories full of imagination, but the main levels and chapters of the game are where unprecedented creativity shines.
Even my colleague Ethan Krieger was forced to be amazed at its beautifully designed final level in reviews of the game. There is much to be grateful for in each of these main chapters.
So, looking back, I’ll discuss split fiction, their specialties, the downsides, and each of the main levels that shocked me the most during my first playthrough with my partner.
Spoilers for each main level are explained below. Read the list at your discretion.
8 Rader Publishing
A humble and strange beginning
We start at the lowest edge, so it’s only appropriate to place the published chapter of the introduction radar here.
It’s not a tutorial as I’m slightly bullied what to expect from this brand new cooperative adventure.
Freedom Warriors and the Brave Knights are the appropriately made sub-levels that give you You can get a glimpse into the chaotic and polar-friendly world of two main heroines, Mio and Zoe.
The Freedom Fighters are pretty basic and come with a fierce ending, but the brave knight adds to the fun by upping the ante with chase sequences and prominent gaming Easter eggs.
They both do a decent job of letting you know that this is not a cake walk game to play with your partner.
7 Neon Revenge
Dark, grumpy, melancholic
This is because I was hyped to see what else is available from Mio’s Dark Sci-fi Mind, and also because I love the ideas of cyberpunk and future dystopian settings.
Don’t let the neon revenge placement fool you here. We really liked the levels, but compared to the latter levels, the chapters are less memorable.
The highlight is definitely that particular bike chase sequence, Perfect adrenaline rush with its iconic Akira bike slide reference There are two great boss fights from the car park attendant and the SRI crime boss.
However, the overall design of the level on foot is not particularly special. You’ve always had some great backgrounds. It takes twobut that’s pretty much it.
6 dimple
Compensation will be provided before the curtain call
Hollow is the final level before the finale, and the main story is beaten for this final. This focuses on facing her past involving her late sister Ella.
From a gameplay perspective, the power-ups are unique. Mio has birds that can emit light, while Zoe has reptile creatures that can draw magnets when placed on flat surfaces.
The puzzle with these two power-ups is slightly complicated, but not too annoying. It almost requires a close look at the environment with our partners to get an idea of the solution.
And finally, you are in a fight with Hydra at the end. It’s not technically a boss fight because there’s no health bar, but it was a movie-like thing to do with Mio, Zoe and the amulet uniting and cutting off Hydra’s head.
While the grand scheme feels like a stepping stone to the final chapter, Zoe and her sister are undoubtedly heartwarming, showing off the most emotional beats of the story to date.
5 Separation
It’s never easy to stand up to yourself
Depending on how you felt awe in the games so far, Due to the power-ups that exist in this, quarantine may be your favorite level.
Mio and Zoe acquire two spherical drone balls and then their abilities as armor. Mio gets these dark nanobots that manipulate the shape, but Zoe can stick to the surface like a magnetic orb.
The world’s design is less impressive compared to its previous ones, but the interesting puzzle structure around the high-tech ball and the final boss make up for it in a battle with Dark Mio.
For a spectacular show of panic attacks at the climax, I prefer Zoe’s backstory revelation in Hollow, but the separation gives the much-needed closure to MIO’s bottled regret and cold attitude.
Pinbawser Boss Fight is also an epic representation of what creativity can achieve in this type of game. It doesn’t feel like the most innovative chapter, but the bosses and the beats of the story are all clear winners here.
4 Spring hope
A quest to abdicate the Ice King
Spring Hope is the first major chapter you will encounter from a fantasy-inspired story of Zoe, hunting the cursed Ice King.
Because it is an early chapter, this game offers some notable shapeshifting capabilities here. Because both heroes can transform into several species to help them in their journey.
Both Mio and Zoe must use these abilities of Mio’s all-fish-like creatures from underwater or trees like Zoe’s Groot to manipulate the environment to create and open paths to each other.
My favorite details on this level are how it has 3 great side stories Train robbery, game shows, collapsed stars that will make it memorable for my partner and me.
The puzzle structure is confusing here, and sections like totem poles require accurate input, but there’s nothing that can’t be handled without a quick walkthrough just in case it’s annoying.
Finally, there is a fun little encounter where you dance and dig into the trench in the “Three to Three on Tango” section, and then, in my opinion, it’s not too out of design.
3 Rising Dragon’s realm
How to not train a dragon
Dragon’s realm has been one of the main levels I’ve been eager to look forward to since being teased with the game’s trailer and promotional footage, and was delivered based on those expectations.
Our two main characters hatch and adopt two dragons, allowing them to slowly evolve.
Your adorable dragon abilities will be well integrated into the puzzle, Even during the intense mid-boss encounter between Dragon Slayer and Treasure Traitor, The former honestly feels like a soulbone boss fight.
My favorite details are how this level has the best visual design, from the gorgeous draconic ruins that inhabit the puzzle to the wider scenery that Megalith, the big bad dragon in this chapter, chases after you.
Most importantly, this chapter has two stories that are perfect for experiencing on the slopes of the explosive snowboarding races of war and the slopes of anxiety-provoking spatial escape.
Pacing may feel a bit in the back seat at times, but the final showdown with the Megalis expands your body like the final stand in the MMO boss battle as the dragon leads the charge.
2 The last dawn
I’ll punish him but I’m satisfied
The highest mainline levels of split fiction are also the most cruel, along with the finale.
The game is mixed between twin stick shooters and side scrollers Because Mio and Zoe need to fight through a large mech fortress that threaten to wipe out humanity.
With a shooting pistol, there are also some kind of pulse bombs, allowing you to create portals in the colours that correspond to each character and create paths, and open various locks.
Now I admit, this whole level isn’t for your non-gamer friends or partners, and they may struggle here without turning on their own accessibility settings.
And speaking of struggle, The final boss of the chapter’s director is the most dynamic and fascinating battle. Certainly, it drags a bit, but that’s all a joy. This is not knowing when you truly die.
Overall, despite how fast you can play other chapters to some extent, the intensity of the final dawn made me want to “lock in” to overcome it from start to finish.
Plus, the puzzle requires precise timing and adjustments, so once again the “lock-in” factor plays a role, making it worthy of the top three on the list.
1 Split
Peak fiction
Putting this as the best might sound like a cliché The final level of split fiction is the most illustrious one created by the eccentric mind at Hazelight Studios.
Given how the game leads to the finale, it throws everything completely off the rails with a multidimensional twist.
Rader’s Gone Haywire tries to stop Mio and Zoe’s plans to destroy machines literally It becomes this last divine entity that must divide their world and smash them against the various sub-levels of the finale.
Successive instances of the game are pulling gameplay sequences that break these fourth walls. My most memorable experience of the game today.
And because I really didn’t feel good when my partner and I noticed at the first moment of this level that the screens were overlapping and I began to drop my chin in surprise.
On top of this ingenious level of design, Cherry is a high stakes match against radar Dodge his comically crazy attacks as you reap him in a dramatic Deus Ex Machina showdown with your weapon.
