Monopoly Go is the popular mobile game! Best known for Scopley, Scopley agreed to acquire the developers behind Niantic, Pokemon Go, Pikmin Bloom and Mobile Monster Hunter Game Monster Hunter Now. The transaction is valued at $3.5 billion, and we reviewed reports from last month.
All Niantic properties currently fall under the Scopley umbrella. Includes Pokemon GO. Pokemon GO includes over 20 million active players, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, Campfire and Wayfarer.
Niantic will spin its technology platform into a new standalone entity called Niantic Spatial Inc., led by Niantic founder and CEO John Hanke.

Scopley is currently joining a unique company that owns multiple top 10 mobile games
Scopley is the number one US mobile gaming company backed by the strength of MonopolyGo and currently owns several top 10 mobile gaming properties. Beyond Monopoly Go and Pokemon Go, the Niantic portfolio combination, along with existing franchises such as Scopley’s Marvel Strike Force and Stumble Guys, positions the company as one of the biggest mobile games.

In addition to these 20 million active Pokemon GO users, the popular mobile spinoff of the Pokemon franchise has remained the top 10 mobile titles since its launch in 2016. Each player has 40 minutes of playtime each day, with half of all players spinning seven days a week. Pikmin Blood has been growing since its launch in 2021, with players taking 3.94 trillion steps last year. The game also saw the highest number of players in 2024.
Due to the popularity of Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter has seen over 15 million downloads since its launch in September 2023.
Members of Niantic’s game development team will continue to participate with over 23,000 scope-based developers around the world.
