Just a few weeks ago, Saber Interactive announced that its latest game, Warhammer 40:000: Space Marine 2, has won a sequel titled Space Marine 3. This was no surprise as it was a runaway success for Saber, Publisher Focus Home Entertainment, and the License Holder Games workshop.
While checking out the sequel is good news, some people were worried that this would mean that Space Marine 2 support was being caught up in, so Saber can focus entirely on Space Marine 3. Thankfully, it’s not.
Saber will not change personnel from Space Marine 2 to Space Marine 3
In Saber’s latest community update, the studio repeatedly said it has dropped support for Space Marine 2 just because the sequel is in development.
“So let’s set the records straight: Space Marine 3 does not mean the end of Space Marine 2 development. It’s far from it. The team hasn’t shifted. No one has abandoned the game. There’s no plan to bring more great content to Space Marine 2.
Saber reminds people once again that Space Marine 3 is “a few years away from its release.” This announcement means they have begun the process of developing it.
Following support confirmation, Saber also spoke about the next major update that hit Space Marine 2 in April.
SpaceMarine2 patch 7 for “Trygon Update” in April
Patch 7 for Space Marine 2 is scheduled to be released in mid-April and will provide new DLC content.
New content:
- Space Wolf Chapter Pack
- Imperial Fists Champion Pack
- New Maps in PVE
- The perks will be reworked
- PVP’s private lobby
PVE players can expect a new exfiltration map to be released in Patch 7. According to Saber, “exfiltration” takes place at Avarax. Your mission is to extract high-tech priests who will occupy the Adeptus Mechanicus facilities on Earth.
The feature community lobby where the community was requested is also part of the patch. Players can customize the PVP experience with a number of adjustable options.

This is just a small part of the new feature and does not list the official gameplay changes included in the patch.
If you haven’t played Space Marine 2 yet, it’s one of the surprise hits of 2024. According to open critics, the game currently averages 81 with 156 reviews, giving it an impressive “strong” rating.
