A new and improved version of Rockstar for Grand Theft Auto 5 will not work on Steam after it was released in early March.
Released on March 4th, Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced has a “mixed” user review rating on Steam, with 54% of the 19,772 user reviews being flagged as positive.
To put it in context, Steam’s original GTA 5 appeared in a request for Rockstar Games, which resulted in no visible in searches on Valve’s platform, but there is a “very positive” user review rating on Steam.
In fact, GTA 5 Enhanced is now the worst user-reviewed GTA on Steam and the closest competitor with the unwanted crown Grand Theft Auto III – 66% positive reviews.
GTA 5 Enhanced is a free upgrade to GTA 5 on your PC. This includes only those previously available on GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions. Includes all the latest vehicle and performance upgrades, including Hao’s special pieces, animal encounters and access to purchase GTA+ memberships. All players who currently own GTA 5 on their PC can upgrade to this new version for free with Story Mode and the ability to migrate online progress.
You’d think it’s a relatively simple process, but account migration doesn’t seem to work as intended by many players. In fact, account migration issues are at the heart of most negative reviews that have been flagged as “most helpful.”
“The GTA online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not currently eligible for migration,” the disgruntled player reported. “If you think you can throw away nearly 700 hours of gameplay for one character and make a few more dollars out of me, you can lick my anal orifice neatly.
“This is an objective downgrade from the ‘old’ version. This has never been released and I enjoy the legacy version until I was 60 years old when I was in a new game. ”
“I’m leaving a negative review mainly because Rockstar decided that some accounts could not be migrated voluntarily. If you ask for help from support, they say they can’t do anything about it,” reads another.
“You cannot migrate any of the two accounts,” reads another negative review. “R* support is completely useless and not helpful. With the game over 10, I’m sure he won’t reboot completely just to get a slightly better graphics and HSW etc., just to avoid hell restarting all progress online.
Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced is one of the most played games on Steam, with a number of concurrent players peaking at 187,059 since its launch. However, it has sparked concern over the inevitable PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, and some PC gamers are worried that the GTA 5’s enhanced Rockstar struggle could indicate a line firing.
The GTA 6 is set to be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in the fall of 2025, leaving PC gamers in the cold. December 2023, former developer of Rockstar After GTA 6 was hit I tried to explain why GTA 6 came to PC They called on consoles and PC gamers to give studios the “benefits of doubt” about the controversial launch plan.
There are plenty more in the GTA 6 including Take-Two Boss Strauss Zelnick’s response to concerns over GTA Online’s fate after GTA 6 is announced. Meanwhile, Take-Two is suing an online marketplace player auction, claiming it contains a list of thousands of fraudulent and infringing GTA 5 content, including significantly altered player accounts, in-game assets and cryptocurrencies, using hacking software, cheats and technical exercises.
