In a video interview with CNBC (via Gamesradar), Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick dropped a bombshell about what he’s aiming for in Grand Theft Auto 6.
“The important thing is that Rockstar Games are trying to create not only interactive entertainment, but the best thing everyone has seen in entertainment,” Zelnick shares. This is something Zelnick admits, and it’s a “tall order” and how consumers think they have great hopes for the title.
“But the delay itself reflects the desire to hone and create the best possible experience for consumers, and we know that as a company we seek the highest quality entertainment, rather than having the slavish dedication of releasing dates,” Zelnick added.
In other games, this claim would be ridiculous. But in the GTA 6? Yes, Zelnick’s comments may actually be accurate. I would be shocked if GTA 6 did not establish a new record in unit sales and revenue after the game was released next year.
The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 was pushed back from this year until May 26, 2026. Still, it does not damage the game. On the contrary, this gives Rockstar Games time to hone the game and take the time to cause more hype.
