The Black Spider Ninja Clan has been at odds with the Hayabusa Clan in the Ninja Gaiden series for a long time, but that appears to be changing.
Dotemu has released a new trailer for the 2D side-scrolling action game Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.
The trailer gives you a glimpse into Kumori’s gameplay. This is unlike Kenji’s game, which focuses on speed and range, in contrast to Kenji’s proximity-oriented style.
Play Kenji and Kumori together or separately
The plot of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound weaves between the stories of kenji and Kumori, with each ninja getting its own unique stage.
The trailer also shows how the spirits of two characters seem to blend together early in the story, showing players accessing their abilities at once at once and overcoming monsters blocking their own paths.
In this state, players appear to be primarily in control of Kenji, but they are free to switch between Kenji and Bumori and take full advantage of their unique advantages and traits, such as passive upgrades of Kenji, Spider Shadow Arts and special attacks.
These abilities are likely to be important to the master, assuming that they continue the reputation of the Ninja Gaiden series of punishing difficulties.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is developed by The Game Kitchen, the same developer behind the incredible soul-like Metroidvania Blasphemous.
It appears that Koei Tecmo is trying to continue both the 3D and 2D legacy of the Ninja Gaiden series at once. Ragebound will be appearing on the 2D side in the summer of 2025, with the 3D part of the series continuing with the recent Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 4.
From its sound, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound looks like a completely worthy entry into the legendary franchise, and while it’s not just a way to get over the fans until the release of Ninja Gaiden 4, you’ll certainly have to wait until summer.
