Three years after the start of Studio’s eyes, we finally saw their debut psychedelic horror title, Sleep Awake.
The title was officially revealed last year as part of the summer game fest, but since then, few details have come out, along with some screenshots and rumors.
Now we finally got our first official trailer – and it bends the mind of equal parts, looking terrifying and seductive.
Surreal collaboration
Cory Davis is known for his infamous psychological, PTSD-inducing shooter game. Specops: The Line collaborated with Robin Finck (n’Roses of 9-inch nails/guns) three years ago to form a new studio. They have announced a new collaboration with Joshua Tree Sound Session.
Now that’s Torture will be very concentrated in the gamethere is a strange, otherworldly trailer to wake up sleep.
It depicts some eccentric and surrealistic settings, with repeated narrations such as, “I can’t sleep. I can’t sleep.”
A building called the Somnological Institute is shown, which probably indicates that the player is part of a sort of dream analytical experiment. The fact that such a variety of environments are shown will also support this dream hopping mindset.
Just like real sleep, Picturesque and pleasant crowdscape is only half the photo. The other side is much darker and more of a nightmare.
The trailer certainly suggests an atmosphere of terror, but I am quite curious about how this story unravels, especially given the authoritarian character and the seemingly dream-like background. Furthermore, some of the non-dream sequences appeared to indicate that the player protagonist was collecting some form of hallucinogen eye muscles.
There are many mysteries that will wake up and uncover sleep, but what we know is that it is expected to be released in 2026 and will be available on PC, Xbox X/S, and PS5.
