Nintendo believes that playing a switch title on Switch 2 via the backward compatibility feature of the new console will be a better experience than playing the same title on the original switch. As Resetera user Truno discovered, Nintendo’s technical director Takuhiro Dohta spoke about this in a recent Ask The Developers survey.
Dohta answered questions about how new technology could potentially enhance the games originally developed for Swtich, and spoke about how the games are run, with short load times and high overall stability. He also pointed out Switch 2 features like GameChat as another way these titles play better on new consoles.
“When I tried to run a Switch game on Switch 2, I realized that the overall gameplay experience could be improved because there are faster load times or there are places where the game’s performance is more stable,” Dohta said. “And as mentioned, GameChat is also available for Switch games played on Switch 2. There is also an opportunity to add value in the sense that previously released games can enhance and modify the gameplay experience.
Details about the Nintendo Switch 2 have been revealed in a recent in-person, dedicated to upcoming consoles. Nintendo Switch 2 hits store shelves on June 5th and comes out alongside a considerable number of games, including new games Mario Kart World.
