The Plague Tale series is known for its enchanting and emotional storytelling, intense levels of design and immersive atmosphere. Set during the infamous Black Despair of the mid-14th century, the series has so far focused on the story of Amicia de Roon and her quest to save her brother Hugo.
It can all change soon after the new mini-trailer has come to appear to have been accidentally leaked to the Publisher Focus Entertainment thread account. The post was then deleted.
A new female protagonist?
Another girl is shown running and fighting during a short trailer that appears to be held in Morocco or Algeria A wide range of urban and rural environments.
The game appears to be working on a spinoff approach rather than a mainline entry. One particular clue is not putting the series name at the forefront, but is titled “Resonance: The Legacy of the Plague Story.”
Some fans on Reddit have speculated that this is a story of the origins of Sophia, a prominent ally of Requiem, a plague story. The character’s design and appearance appear to match. This is good for those who enjoyed her as a gaming companion.
For those who have not played the Plague story, Requiem, Sofia is a more independent rogue type than Amicia and is a pirate smuggler. She captains a ship called Sea Scorpion. This could mean that we are taking part in a larger and explorable map than our previous games.
The trailer, although short, showed her in a variety of settings, ranging from jungles and coasts to cities with North African architecture.
It is unclear how the trailer was posted when it was clearly not intended. However, it seems very likely that there will be an official announcement and more news. Xbox Games will showcase its showcase on Sunday, June 8th.
It’s not the first time I’ve heard a potential third entry into the Plague Tale series. The 2023 job list also suggests potential future releases.
The Plague Tale series is criminally underrated, so we’re happy to see more in the pipeline, but we hope that developer Asobo Studio doesn’t make innocence and Requiem that great.
