Developer Carx Technologies has given its own name over the past decade with series such as Drift Racing, Highway Racing, and Rally. In 2022, they forked with Carx Street, an open world racing game with a level of freedom that has never been seen before. They then brought it into steam in 2024, where it was hoped by over 600,000 people. And now they’re bringing it to the console – it will arrive on the Xbox Series X/s on June 18th and on the PlayStation 5 later this summer.
Carx Street takes you to the vast Sunset City and its suburbs where your goals are easy. Prove that you are the best racer in town. There are racing clubs scattered throughout the city, each with its own unique identity. Union Underground, for example, is a crew of car engineers who value car performance but don’t care about the appearance. Kanjo Spirit is for hatchback enthusiasts who use unstable and risky driving styles.
You need to prepare for a variety of race types, including classic sprint races, circuit races, and drift contests. All races utilize Car Physics Engine from Carx Technologies, designed with a focus on realism. That realism means that cheap cars that you can afford at the start of the game aren’t handled well enough to tackle stiffer races, and don’t produce the grades you need to enter them in the first place. Therefore, you need to upgrade your ride quickly and frequently.
Luckily, there are plenty of options when building a new car. This starts with 92 different vehicles, with additional vehicles added regularly. There is also an extensive customization and tuning system that allows you to adjust your ride to your preferred driving style, including the engine, drivetrain, suspension, body and wheels.

Sunset City may have a lot of racing clubs, but it’s not just about doing it in town. You can accept quests to deliver cars and parts to people in the city. By completing them, you can net resources to improve your vehicle. Explore maps yourself, speed up open highways, find mountain paths with sharp turns and narrow passages, and test your driving skills. Alternatively, you can purchase real estate that can display custom cars across cities where parking is included. Through all this, Sunset City has a dynamic day and night cycle, leading to races with different sensations depending on the time you do them.
There is also a multiplayer mode if you feel competitive. Battle mode is a 1V1 showdown in a circle or sprint race, where in Chase mode the opponent tries to keep it while one player tries to escape town, and the Speed League will race circuit and sprint races in 1V5 format. Time Attack challenges you to set the best lap time while launching leaderboards and earning more and more valuable rewards. Multiplayer mode has cross-play between the PC and console versions of the game.

All of these features exist when the game arrives at the console, but the developers have also announced plans for additional future plans. This includes new competitive multiplayer modes, Jimkana (obstacle course), team multiplayer modes, dynamic weather effects, highway networks, complete narrative campaigns, and police chase mechanics.
