  • Game Inforter is back and publishes a printing magazine

summary

  • Game Inforter is currently independent under Gunzilla Games and staff is retained.
  • The website has returned with 2024 updates, reviews, events and the best games.
  • Print magazines to expand your content and membership.

Seven months after parent company GameStop pulled the plug on the Game Informer, the magazine revived, but appears to be stronger than ever.

This time, they are not tied to GameStop because the brand was acquired, but the entire production staff is also on board.

Game Inforter is back and publishes a printing magazine

Gunzilla Games, developer of Off the Grid, is the new owner of Game Informer. According to Game Informer Editor-in-Chief Tim Miller, the new owner “submitted the idea that Game Informer would maintain an independent editorial outlet.”

Miller points out that the editorial group is making 100% of what they are covering and decisions about “the only way” and “no influence from them (Gangilla” or others.”

Last year, when GameInforter was announced, GameStop suddenly pulled its website out of existence. Now back, the team couldn’t do it last year, so even the 2024 reviews and the best games updated it. Miller said the site will receive daily updates, including news, reviews, previews, features and event coverage.

Not only will the website be back, but Game Informers are about to release a printing magazine again! “Our intention is to bring back a bigger and better magazine than before and add many membership and subscription perks, including video expansion, streaming and feature coverage.” Miller said.

Although I don’t usually post about other outlets, the Game Informa revival is news worth sharing given the magazine’s location in the history of the game.

Game Informer debuted in August 1991 by former gaming retailer Funcoland. In 2000, Barnes & Noble acquired and merged several companies, leading to the GameStop Corp formation. That same year, the company purchased Funcoland and game informants.

If you’re not old enough to remember gaming magazines, they were once gateways to video game news. They featured a big game about to be released, with previews, hints and lots of ads. Game magazines may seem archaic now, but for those who remember (like me), reading it on paper is a different feeling.
