Nvidia boss says Switch 2 chip is the evolution of Iwata’s vision

With the Switch 2 just a few days apart, Nvidia boss Jensen Huang got the opportunity to detail the innards housed in portable consoles in audio and video from Nintendo’s new creator. Many of them are what you expect to hear: According to Huang, the computer chip inside the Switch 2 is a technical wonder, which can become the most powerful portable console ever. However, in a more sentimental note, Huang discussed working with the late Satori Iwata, the beloved former president of Nintendo.

“I still remember the day when Iwata shared his dream with us,” fans said of the first Nintendo switch. “He wanted to create something no one had seen before. It’s a console powerful enough for a big movie game, but enough to get anywhere. That sounded impossible. But that vision became a switchover for the original Nintendo.

Huang goes on to see Nvidia spending 500 engineers years developing the technology to power Nintendo’s Switch, all delivering Iwata’s vision. Now, he takes things to the next level through advances like AI processors that sharpen, enhance and animate gameplay in real time.

“The Switch 2 is more than a new console,” says Huang. “It’s a new chapter and deserves Iwata’s vision.”

Iwata’s approval has been highly praised by Nintendo fans. He still remembers being foresightful. Iwata oversaw the release of iconic Nintendo hardware such as the DS and Wii. This alone would be enough to solidify his legacy, but Iwata’s influence on Nintendo is far more personal than that. Fans got to know him through a Nintendo manager. There he spoke directly to cameras about Nintendo’s latest and greatest things. He is also the reason to get behind the scenes developer breakdown in Nintendo’s biggest games.

“I love the fact that they still respect Iwata, who made my day,” reads a comment from the top vote on YouTube. “Legends never die,” another fan says.
