Nintendo is Teaming Up With Marketplaces in Japan to Curb Switch 2 Scalping Ahead of Launch

Nintendo Switch 2

Console Release Recently, scalpers are known for their lack of stock to help them grab as much stock as possible, but Nintendo has taken a solid stance towards the practice of the future Switch 2 release in Japan. In an official statement on the Nintendo Japan website, the company is Mercari and Yahoo! It says it is affiliated with. Auctions and Yahoo! Flea Markets and Rakten Rakuma will take measures against Scalpers List Switch 2 for sale.

“Nintendo and the three service providers will take steps to combat the unauthorized list of Nintendo products, including the Nintendo Switch 2. This violates their respective terms of use, including actively deleting the list with service providers and establishing a joint system for sharing information (translated via Google).

As part of the partnership, companies essentially ban the Switch 2 list on their websites. It is designed as an eBay style website where users can buy and sell items. A significant number of websites in Japan’s major markets are unable to carry these lists, so scalpers will discourage Nintendo from trying to pick up extra stocks that they prefer to go to regular players.

As part of the partnership, Yahoo has announced Yahoo!. Auctions ban Switch 2 listings entirely. Temporarily, the company is working with Nintendo to prevent lists it believes “can cause confusion in the trading environment or lead to fraudulent lists.” Meanwhile, Rakuten says it is banning the Switch 2 list until the console is actually released.

The console has proven to be extremely successful in Japan, even before its release, and in April, President Furukawa, Nintendo’s president, announced that over 2 million fans had signed up for the lottery system, where the console is sold domestically. “On April 2nd, we announced details about the Nintendo Switch 2 and began accepting applications for lottery sales at the My Nintendo Store,” writes Furukawa. “As a result, we received applications from an astounding 2.2 million people in Japan alone.

In his statement, Furukawa apologised for the exclusion of several people who signed up for the opportunity to pre-order the Switch 2, at least for the time being, considering that large demand for Japanese consoles will outweigh supply. The company has been making the move to make pre-orders easier for those who have not been able to do it for the first time, but Furukawa said Nintendo is working on ramping up production.

“And we’re planning on moving forward a considerable number of Nintendo Switch 2 units,” he writes. “We sincerely apologize for the time it takes to fully respond to your expectations and kindly ask for your understanding.”

The Nintendo Switch 2 will attack store shelves on June 5th. In its revenue report, Nintendo said it would like to sell 15 million consoles next year.
