Nexus Mods Owner Steps Down After 24 Years to Focus on Mental Health

PC Gaming Mod Hub Nexus Mods is gaining new ownership for the first time in 24 years as creator Robin “Dark0ne” Scott left the baton due to mental health.

One of the biggest gaming sites on the internet posted about the next chapter message Released today. He is already officially looking for Scott to be out of the Nexus modifications, asking for “months of meetings, face-to-face talks, and a search for lots of souls.”

The message places much of the behind-the-scenes details under the wrap, but two new individuals, one Victor (aka surnamed gall bladder) and another name Marinus (aka Rapsak) – employs leadership roles, with both profiles in charge of the title “Site Owner.” The change in leadership marks the beginning of a new era for Nexus Mods and Scott.

“The tension of taking responsibility for the giant I created is at the cost.

“The tension to be held accountable to the giant I created is at the cost,” Scott explained. “The stress of this job was a regular cause of anxiety and stress-related health issues. I realized I was burning out and this started to affect staff and Nexus mods. So I firmly believe that the best thing for the future of Nexus Mods is to lead new leadership to guide my business through the Nexus Mods Community.

A small project born in Scott’s bedroom for the Elder Scroll III: Morrowind eventually swelled into a large entity in the gaming field. Nexus mods About Us Page Note that this beating heart from the PC gaming community consists of 63.4 million users and 16.8 billion file downloads, placing it as one of the most highly trafficked UK-based websites on the planet.

As Nexus Mods grows, it also affects Scott, who has spent more than 20 years of “everyday” “on the phone.” Losing direct input in the day-to-day operation of Nexus Mods certainly brings to some changes, but Scott has assured Modders and Gamers that the shift should not be the cause of concern.

This is me doing what I probably should have done years ago: take care of myself.

“Behind the scenes, I’m already coming back little by little,” reveals Scott. “Over the past few years, the team has gained more weight and the site has done better than ever. What’s changing now is simply its format and make sure the right people are in place to guide the Nexus Mods into the next era.”

Scott says his resignation from the Nexus Mod and some minor structural changes are moves made to ensure “long-term stability” and will not affect the way the site is working recently. He says, “Nexus Mods are community-first and focused on mod-authors, but not for negotiation.”

As Scott is separated from his direct leadership position, Modding’s creators say he will continue to be involved with the Nexus Mods community with mod authors Discord, Forums and more. He also helps guide the site’s 40-person team as the page is turned, releasing the duties as their faces and figures.

“Yes, I’ve changed hands on the Nexus Mods, but I want to be clear. This isn’t a business ‘exit’ or backroom deal,” adds Scott. “This is something I’m doing probably what I should have done years ago. Take care of myself. I’ll get my headspace back. And finally, I’ll let go of the idea that I have to do everything and take responsibility for myself.”
