It’s been three years since I last heard about the Kratos and the God of War franchise. Without going into spoilers, God of Waragna Rock ended in a way that could lead to a direct sequel or spinoff, but so far Sony hasn’t announced it.
But it can change soon. It may be developing as new rumors are emerging, but that’s not what you were expecting.
The new God of Wargames could be a smaller experience
Compared to past god titles, which are off-chart with scales one after another, the rumoured entry into the franchise is a small game and is completely new to the franchise.
Tweets from the 2.5D God of Wargame, developed like the Metroidvania title, have surfaced, with some insiders saying it’s much smaller. This is a reliable leaker who Jeff Grubb agreed with as well.
Like all rumors, we treat this with grains of salt. If it’s actually under development, it could probably be part of an announcement that will come tomorrow as part of a new playing state.
The latest God of Wargame released was God of Wargame in 2022. Our review gave it a perfect 10/10 score, and it’s the standard for the game, as it even has an average score of 92 to open critics from over 240 reviewers.
While some people may be disappointed when they get 2.5D God of Wargames, we have to admit that it is an interesting premise. Not only does it rock the franchise and proves it can exist in a different genre/gameplay style, but it also makes a good stop game while waiting for the next AAA entry for the Santa Monica Studios franchise.
Is Metroidvania-style God of Wargames interested in you, or should Sony keep the franchise strictly an AAA event?
