Minecraft developer Mojang has no intention of incorporating generative artificial intelligence into the game development process.
The ever-growing creep of generative AI to game development will become clear by the day whether it’s Call of Duty: Black Op 6, an AI designed to “generate game ideas,” or an activation that allows users to use Microsoft Building Muse.
But with that sound, Mojang has no plans to take advantage of the parent company’s new technology. This has made Minecraft the biggest game ever with an incredible 300 million sales.
“Here, as Minecraft is about creativity and creation,” said Agnes Larsson, game director at Minecraft Vanilla, at a recent event attended by Passthecontroller:
Ingela Garneij, executive producer of Minecraft Vanilla, expanded this sentiment. “To me, it’s the outside idea of the box part. This particular touch: what is Minecraft? What does it look like? It even leads remote teams through AI, through AI.
“I think creativity is… you need to meet as a person, as a person, as a person, to truly understand values and principles and ecosystems, lore, everything. It’s a very large Minnecraft, a planet, and a big one.”
The people who make Minecraft continue to build on that record foundation. The newly released graphics update, titled Vibrant Visuals, is expected to be released in the near future, and Mojang continues to refuse to play Minecraft for free. This philosophy of improving and expanding the original game works with Mojang’s desire not to make “Minecraft 2.” He may now be 16 years old, but there are no signs of Minecraft slowing down, and there are no signs that the Generator AI will find a way to the Nether.
