Meta officially confirmed the expansion of its Essilorluxottica partnership, and arrived quickly, including a pair of Oakley smart glasses.
Early this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Garman reported that Meta is trying to expand its smartglass line beyond Ray Banmeta. This includes two new devices: a sporty Oaklevel brand model and a high-end model with built-in displays. The latter has not been announced yet.
Currently, Meta CTO Andrew ‘Boz’ Bosworth has confirmed that “Oakley Meta” smart glasses are appearing in the X post, showing graphics for both brands that are merging and linking to the new @oakleymeta profile.

Details are still lacking, but Gurman’s January report shows that Oakley smart glasses were designed for athletes and could be released later this year.
Meta’s Essilorluxottica partnership has grown steadily since the release of its first-generation Facebook Ray-Ban Stories in 2021, prompting it to offer a two-generation version of the Ray-Ban Meta in 2023.
In late 2024, Meta announced that it would expand its Smart Glasses partnership with Essilorluxottica to 2030. At the time, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the long-term roadmap as giving businesses the opportunity to “turn glasses into the next major technology platform and make the process trendy.”
In addition to Ray-Ban and Oakley, the French-Italian luxury eyewear company owns other major brands such as Persol, Oliver Peoples and Vogue Ieewear.
