Netease Games has appropriately welcomed all Marvel fans to Hellfire Gala in Marvel Rivals season 2, revealing a wardrobe that looks like new outfits and perhaps some new playable characters.
The developers today announced a trailer, bringing the upcoming superhero party to shake up the meta on April 11th, ending months of speculation about what the theme for season 2 is. There’s still a lot to be announced, but for now, we’ve at least made sure that the content is actually focused on the Hellfire Gala storyline.
“Once a year, this Sovereign Mutant Island opens its gates and welcomes both friends and rivals, shaping a brighter future,” says the official description of Season 2 of Marvel Rivals. “Now in 2099, Kurakoa’s fate rests on balance, and its ecosystem suffers from dangerous chronic energy.
“Can a glittering festive evening bring together great food and stunning conversations?
Emma Frost is a Marvel diamond-plated mutant and a force to consider, and she is expected to be on the roster for a while. X-Men representatives were first teased when Netease mentioned it Mysterious Gala in-game Gallery Cards Late February. For keenly eyed fans who noticed this, this was to make sure Emma Frost becomes a playable character in Season 2.
Meanwhile, Ultron was teased long before Marvel rivals invaded the hero shooting game scene late last year. Metallic’s villain could be just someone like Dracula this season, but he’s just over for a proper, playable introduction.
On April 11th, Season 2 kicks open the door with new heroes, skins, modes and more, but one question has already begun to dig that tooth into the Marvel rival community. Where is the blade? Marvel’s infamous Daywalker vampire hunter was mentioned many times throughout Season 1, and was even able to pop up in the game with multiple examples. Many believed that the hero was season 2 rock, but the community is worried now that Blade is now looking like a no-show for Hellfire Gala.
