Netease games are fundamentally changing Marvel Rival The post-release roadmap offers at least one new hero each month to shorten the season and fight to maintain the momentum of the live service with players.
This is a major update to your existing content release schedule. Marvel Rivals Season 2 Dev Vision Vol. 5 Videos. The 15-minute upload included details on how Season 2 will introduce new vanguard Emma Frost, which was launched on April 11th, as well as how it would become clear that its class would approach mid-season release. Both promise to keep Marvel rival fans on their toes with their new abilities, but the real change to how playable heroes affect it really starts in Season 3.
In Marvel Rivals Season 3, which currently has no release date, NetEase shifts seasonal lengths from three months to just two months. This means that key content updates will go fast without changing the team’s initial promise to drop at least one new hero per half season. So, after Emma Frost is released next week, you’ll have to wait a month and a half as Ultron, but after that drop the heroes will be significantly reduced.
“Since the launch of Season 1, we’ve been deeply thinking about how Marvel rivals can continue to provide you with a fun and engaging experience for everything,” explained Guangyun Chen, creative director of Marvel rivals, in a Dev Vision video. “During this period, some discussions on social media have put some pressure on us to maintain a game as exciting as it has since December. To some extent, we agree.”
Chen went on to explain that NetAirs is hoping that Marvel rivals will “fulfil everyone’s fantasies about Marvel superheroes.” That means exploring new modes and flooding the scene with a dense roster of different characters. Following what he called “a wide-ranging internal discussion and thorough evaluation,” NetEase coordinates its system to explain the increased flow of content. Details on how this will affect players will be revealed before Season 3 begins.
“A real adventure with Marvel rivals has just begun, with the goal of keeping the audience excited as alive as they did in the opening months,” Chen added.

The Marvel Rivals was a huge hit when it was released in December, securing 10 million players in three days. Netease’s free-to-play superhero team-based PVP shooter game was released over PC on December 6th via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S. Season 1 in January depicted an incredible 644,269 simultaneous players, making Marvel’s rival the 15th most played game of all time on Valve’s platform.
But those concurrents have been on a downward slide ever since, and it may have caused a dramatic roadmap change from NetEase. Still, Marvel’s rivals are extremely popular and are one of the most played games on Steam. The release of Season 2 proves a shot in the arms and will not be seen again in Season 3.
