The live-action Eldenling film was released on Thursday by former Matinas and Civil War director Alex Garland, Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.
The film, based on the massive RPG hits of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, has been confirmed to be attached not only to the filmmaker as a director, but also as a writer.
The plot, cast details or release date for the Eldenling film have not yet been announced.
George R.R. Martin, who helped create the original Eldenling, is attached as the film’s producer, just like Vince Geraldis.
DNA Peter Rice is produced with DNA Andrew MacDonald and Allon Reich. There is nothing yet to be done about how software and game director Miyazaki Hidetaka is involved.
Eldenling shook the world of gaming from Software’s tough formula open world in 2022. It became a beloved entry in the developer’s catalogue and boasts high praise from both critics (gifted 10/10) and fans. The team behind it had shown interest in expanding the gloomy fantasy world in the past, but few believed their efforts would lead to the film.
So until 2024, Martin teased that he might have heard some details about a potential Eldenling movie, and sent fans through the rabbit hole as the iconic software title was ultimately hoping to see the Grace cinema screen. He continued to double his comments earlier this year, saying he heard “some stories” about the Eldenling film at Passthecontroller Fanfest 2025 in 2025.
Outside of the cinema world, Eldenling has been attracting game fans with more content over the years since its release. The DLC arrived in 2024 in the form of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. According to fromsoftware, it doesn’t consider a full-fledged sequel, but it will be appearing in the original game version of the Eldenling: Nintendo Switch 2.
