The LEGO Group and the Pokemon Company are teaming up for the LEGO Pokemon set, part of the “New Multi-Year Partnership” in 2026. A brief teaser for the partnership points out at least a LEGO set based on Pikachu, but if the LEGO Pokemon collaboration is something like a deal with toy maker Nintendo, then expect multiple sets in the coming years.
The partnership “will bring the Pokemon world back to life in a whole new way, allowing fans to build their beloved Pokemon in the form of Lego brickwork,” the news release said. No details have been announced as to which Pokemon and which style of set players can expect. However, the short FAQ points to the favorites of Pokémon, who are well known as potential candidates. “In 2026, we’re getting ready to call all our Pokemon trainers and build and catch some of our favorite Pokemon!”
The Pokémon brand already has a set of buildable toy sets with Mattel’s Mega Bloks and Mega Construx lines, but it appears LEGO will take over that business from next year. Mattel has been manufacturing Mega Pokémon sets for over 20 years. (Mattel announced in 2022 that it would renew its license with the Pokemon company to make its megabuilding set “for the next few years.”
LEGO has also flirted with other game brands in recent years, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Horizon and Overwatch. However, Pokemon may still be their biggest win.
