Configure a new switch 2 Transfer the game and save the data From the original switch it’s a fairly painless process. As long as you have a Nintendo account and a little time (about 30 minutes), you will need to get your Switch 2 up and running immediately.
However, there may be some hitches along the way, so there are some tips that can save you time and frustration to prepare your Switch and Switch 2 for release date.
How to Set Up the Switch 2
Before you configure Switch 2, you must make sure that:
- Make your wireless internet connection information convenient. On Nintendo Switch 2, you need one system update per day to play. Please check your wireless router address and password to quickly download system updates.
- Please prepare your Nintendo account login information. You will need a Nintendo account to sign in to your account and have access to digital purchases and cloud saves. This is a good opportunity to set up two-factor authentication for your Nintendo account if you haven’t done it yet.
- Connect the Switch 2 to the AC adapter. You probably need to use what’s included in your system, but like most devices, Nintendo wants to make sure your system is not interrupted while installing the system software. If you need to clear the power strip or surge protector space to allow the Switch 2 AC adapter to be connected, do so before starting to set up a new console.
- If you are transferring data from an existing switch to Switch 2, make sure the original switch is up to date with the latest system updates installed. Also, if you have multiple user accounts configured on the original switch, make sure you accept all the required conditions. Otherwise, the process may be interrupted and you must use the original switch to fuse.

How to update the first day of Switch 2 system software
After you turn on Switch 2 for the first time, you will be prompted to perform a system update. In our experience, this process only takes a few minutes, but on busy release dates and release weekends it could take longer as Nintendo’s servers get slammed with millions of new Switch 2 owners.
Switch download one system update for 2 days. This may take a little while, but the good news is that Nintendo will program some content to keep you informed and entertained during the process. There is a cool, low-fibeat to install system updates, and there is a tutorial on how to remove information about the Switch 2 Joy-Con controller and other accessories in your system.
How to transfer switch 1 data to switch 2 2
Don’t stress if you transfer the game and store data from the original switch to Switch 2. This process is very simple and is almost a clue. This is what you’re expecting.
Sign your Nintendo account. Nintendo makes this easier by providing a QR code to scan. This will provide you with a verification code to quickly sign your account and start the sign-in process. You can also manually sign Switch 2 using your email/username and password.
Make sure the switch and switch 2 are physically close to each other. The Nintendo on-screen prompts indicate that both systems should be next to each other, but the two systems were about 6 feet apart and transferred the data.
The data transfer begins. This requires both a switch and a switch 2 on, and you enter the switch configuration, configure the system and scroll all the way to the system forwarding.
Please accept the warning. This may sound a little scary. When you transfer data from Switch to Switch 2, you will be removed from the Switch from storing data for some games and warn them to be transferred to Switch 2. Transfer screenshots and video captures. If you have data such as screenshots stored on the switch’s microSD card, you will be asked to manually eject the card, plug it into Switch 2, and transfer the data to the new system. This is quick and only takes 1-2 minutes depending on how much screen capture you run.
Reboot the system. We’ve already done a lot of system updates, but there’s one more. You should be better off going.
