It’s certainly a unique type of game. Traditional part-turn-based RPGs, part-quick-time events, and most impressively French.

You probably know how great it is, so thanks to some rave reviews, we can get into some details about beating some of the more difficult enemies in the game. These coloured enemies boast some of the biggest challenges in the game, but don’t worry. We have you covered.

We’ll cover the cultists of Chromatic Greatsword here, but with so many chromatic enemies, it’s not a good idea to check out other guides as some of these fights can be incredibly annoying.

Now let’s take down this man wearing this big sword and get those delicious rewards.

Where are the Chromatic Great Sword Cultists?

Claire is a Chromatic GS Cultist Place

This candle-headed monster can be found in Sirene just after taking one of the floating elevators. It must be in Act II and if you choose it can attach it before the first axon, but it is recommended to avoid it until you remove the first axon.

The Chromatic Greatsword Cultist is quite far from the Expedition 67 Flag. From that flag, follow the path until you can see a large dancer outside the railing.

On the left you will see a dark corridor that leads to a lower level when you go down. Keep following that path until you come across one of the platforms you move to.

Turn left to see where it is heading. Then you’ll see the big my candle head standing there.

How to prepare for the Chromatic Great Sword Cultist fight?

Claire prepares for the Chromatic GS Cult

Chromatic Greatsword Cultist is vulnerable to dark damage, so you’ll want to bring in skills and weapons that deal dark damage. Beyond that, try getting pictures that will help you recover health and deal bonus damage at counters and dodges.

If you can use these in Monoco as Pictos or Lumina, combined with a skill that can bypass shields will help you finish your battles faster.

Most of the attacks they use attack the entire expedition. This means that all members will suffer if they make a mistake. Also breaks the curse. This can become a real problem if you are not ready to cleanse or revive your allies.

You definitely need to bring your monoco. Otherwise, this battle will simply be summed up as a war of attrition when they try to remove all the shields they have. If there is another setup that can handle many shields, this is the time and place for that.

The best party members

Claire is a member of the Chromatic GS Cult Party.

I brought in Barso, Sier and Monoco. It turned out to be a kind of cheese combination. Monoco can do a lot of past shields with attacks, so if you bring just one of these three, I’ll make it monoco.

Sciel acts as my pseudo-healer, and Verso deals additional damage and helps to supply more AP to the team to keep the damage going. Anyway, I highly recommend that Monoco keep some way of making his attacks take advantage of as often as possible.

The best skill

Claire covers up his chromatic GS cult skills

As mentioned before, your goal here is to pump Monoco and go to the enemy town. Unless you have a way of passing all their shields, you will have a difficult time in this.

These are all skills I had for my different characters, but as long as I have two main characters for each, you need to set it up.

  • varso – Paradigm shift and leadership
  • Saiel – Bad signs and harsh harvest
  • Monoco – Chevaliere earrings are the only important thing in this battle.

skill

explanation

varso

Deals low single target damage. 5 hit. Use weapon elements.

Critical hits are generated 1 Added perfection. Rank B increases damage.

Handles and deals low physical single target damage 1-3 AP back. Three hits. Rank C gives +1 AP.

Reduce the current rank. I’ll give it 2-4 AP to other allies. Rank C gives other allies +1 AP.

Restores 50% health and dispels status effects. Gives a perfection of 0-2. An increase in rank C increases healing to 100%.

It deals very high single target light damage. 1 hit. It may break. Ranked for breaks. Rank B: This skill has 5 APs.

Deals low light damage to all enemies. 1 hit. It may break. Rank C increases damage.

Monoco

Deals high single target physical damage. 6 hits. If it fails, it will be suspended. A balanced mask increases damage.

Handles medium single target ice damage. 4 hits. High break damage. Heavy masks increase damage.

Handles low single target dark damage. 1 hit. It may break. Agile Mask fills 20% of the target breakbar

Handles physical damage to a single target via a shield. 6 hits. Damage to each shield on the target has been increased. Agile masks increase damage.

Deals high physical damage to all enemies. 3 hits and critical hits deal double damage. Heavy masks increase damage.

Deals high single target physical damage. Three hits. It may break. A balanced mask increases damage.

Saiel

Handles physical damage of a medium single target. Two hits. Consumes all previous FORETELLs on the target, giving the party member one AP for each notice consumed.

Handles physical damage of a medium single target. 1 hit. Apply two Foretells. If the target has a Foretell of 0, apply three additional Foretells.

Handles medium single target dark damage. 1 hit. Heal allies by 30%. Consumes Foretell and increases healing per Foretell by 5%.

Deals high single target dark damage. 1 hit. Consumes all Foretell to deal additional damage. It may break.

Deals low dark damage to all enemies. Two hits. Apply two Foretells per hit.

Deals high single target damage. 5-7 hits. Use weapon elements. For each hit, you can consume 1 Foretell and deal more than 200% damage. Critical hits won’t remove Foretell, but still increase damage.

This worked well for me, but as long as there is a good way to reduce or bypass shielding, you’re fine.

Chromatic Great Sword Cultist Attack Break

Claire obscures chromatic GS cult attacks

Chromatic Greatsword cultists only have two attacks, but they almost always run in succession. Be vigilant, dodge, or protect Parry at your discretion, based on your plan to beat her.

For me, I often took some damage to avoid counter attacks, limiting the amount of damage that Monoco can attack. By letting Sciel do most of her healing by abusing bad portrayals and harsh harvests, it made it easier to keep my team alive through almost everything.

attack

explanation

action

Chromatic Great Sword Cultist Covers Her Sword with Blood

The boss stabs himself, gains a shield, swings twice, then needs an attack that requires a jump. She then swings three more times throughout the group.

Parry or Dodge (jump required)

Chromatic Greatsword Cultist is about to jump

She stabs herself again, earns a shield, then jumps into the air and slaps a single party member.

Parry or Dodge

Each attack removes fat clumps of your health, so avoid what you can and be careful of the health of the party members as she is constantly attacking the party. Limited attacks will easily memorize your move set, so the type of plan you are using will probably work fine.

If you’re struggling with Parry or Dodge, here are some tips for both moves:

  • Chromatic Great Sword Cultist Covers Her Sword with Blood – Try pressing the priority button so that you have reached the first party member on either side. To jump, wait until the symbol disappears, then jump because the animation is slow.
  • Chromatic Greatsword Cultist is about to jump – If she presses it correctly as she comes down, she should be able to consistently dodge and annoy this attack.

How to beat the Chromatic Great Sword Cultist fight?

Claire is a chromatic GS cultist who beats it

This was surprisingly not that difficult, but maybe it’s because I found a bit of cheese to get through it. If you can survive all attacks long enough, you can continue pumping monocos with Sciel and Verso buffs and use monocos all the time

Bypass all the shields it makes.

Using it will allow the shield to continue to accumulate and deal a lot of damage to increase the damage even more. You need to survive too, so it’s best to make sure you receive all the attacks to health (if you have) or avoid it.

Getting the counter doesn’t really help as it builds the shield quite quickly. Having a team member that can heal you is extremely helpful as it helps keep you in the fight and helps Monoco do his crazy things.

Try to get bonuses from the Agile Mask if possible. This will allow you to chunk more health with each attack, but if you need help, check out this build guide.

I might have been a bit bad, but as long as you have stopped most of the incoming damage from 6-hit attacks, you should be able to survive and deal significant damage with Monoco attacks.

Chromatic Greatsword Cultist Reward

Claire obscures the rewards of Chromatic GS Cult

After beating Chromatic Greatsword Cultist, you will receive the following rewards:

The weapon provided is suitable for Verso, with other teammate attacks taking more damage. In addition to that, you’ll get some serious XP and chroma as well as some upgrade material to level the weapon past level 10.

You’ll pass on the Chromatic Greatsword cult on your way to your goal anyway, so even if you’re not interested in weapons, it’s worth stopping for extra XP and upgrade materials. There are plenty of other coloured enemies that drop pretty amazing booty so don’t be afraid to go out and find them!
