Hasbro revealed a very impressive lineup of new toys and collectibles at the 2025 Star Wars Celebration, including new The Mandalorian figures and long dash render figures. They also exhibited many of these upcoming releases at the show.
Passthecontroller took a photo of Hasbro’s Star Wars Celebration Display and was able to talk to designers Chris Reiff and Hasbro Marketing’s Jing Houle about the thrill of designing toys based on these iconic characters. To get a closer look at these new toys, check out the slideshow gallery below and then read what Reiff and Houle have to say, including why there is still room for improvement in the biggest heroes of the Star Wars franchise.
There’s no doubt that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor fans were happy to see the new person included in this new Star Wars toy. Nightsister Merrin has acquired a new person (see it on Amazon). The series’ star Cal Kestis is featured in a three-pack set alongside Turgle and Skoova Stev (Amazon). And most of all, Cal comes with multiple swap-out heads, including ones with handlebar mustaches. That particular look was a top priority for this release, according to Houle.
“To be honest, we wanted to enjoy it,” Hall tells Passthecontroller. “This is one of my favorite packs that I revealed in the panel. It actually started with a mustache and mullet on the handlebar, and it was added to the clean cut. Then add a short whisker.
As for Melin, it was a given that his crew joined, given how important Melin is to the larger fallen order/survivor saga. The challenge was to properly portray her unique capabilities of power.
“It’s hard to have California without Melin,” Riff said. “So we’re happy to finally arrive at Mellin, but its power effects, green explosions, all the great details of that new costume and inkjet face tattoos. The beautiful subtlety that’s happening there. She’s a really cool character we know.
This year’s toy lineup includes two characters not strangers to Hasbro, by Han Solo and Chewbacca. (See Han and Chewie on Amazon.) However, despite the number of Han and Chewie figures we’ve seen over the years, Houle asserts that there’s room for improvement.
“I mean, we haven’t done them for a long time,” Hall says. “They needed an update so we’re making sure they’re the latest articulation and brand new so fans can really celebrate and enjoy… We’ve put out a classic character again with the latest technology and clear clarity we have.
“And despite his long hair, he still has soft plastic so he can still swipe and move his head in a seamless way, which was really important.
Based on the animated anthology series Star Wars: Vision, the numbers in this lineup are less impressive than Ronin. True to the series, Ronin is a black and white figure, whose colour is the only one born from his red katana lightsaber. As Ronin is a competitive release of celebration, it was important for both Houle and Reiff to get the small details right.
“We love protecting that,” Hall says. “And take a look at what we know about Japanese culture and things, how to build boxes, how to look at premiums, open magnets, clean looks, watercolors, and learning from accessories hidden at the top of the box.
Reiff said, “And even in this exclusive package of Japanese, we don’t do that normally, but here we are in Japan here, so we wanted to accept it all and do a special package that is just Japanese for that.”
Finally, Hasbro had something for fans of the 1:1 scale Black Series helmet line.
“(It’s) a very completely new tool helmet for the Black Series Premium Roleplay Line,” says Reiff. “Weathered, it looks straight from the film with lighting details. You poke the side buttons to control the jaw lights and spectator sensor lights sideways. So, we’ll add a big addition to our line and work with Lucasfilm from the original file. There’s a full detailed decor.”
