Early builds of software in 2016 Hitman Reboot – Now bundled with those two sequels Hitman: The World of Assassinations Trilogy – Shared online by Preservationist Community Obscure Gamers on April 19th, let’s take a look at how the game has been shaped for over a year since its launch.
The prototype for uploaded files refers to a game called “Silent War”: HitmanThe first two non-tutorial cushions, “The Show Stopper” and “World of Tomorrow” are set in Paris, France and Sapienza, Italy, respectively. Much of the gameplay footage provided by the debugger exploring the content of the build comes from Sapienza, showing you the level that looks like the final release.
However, one major difference is the presence of NPCs moving boxes back and forth at the side entrance of the apartment complex and the property site. Prompt Agent 47 was able to hide illegal items in these boxes. This probably served as a moving stash, allowing Agent 47 to successfully pass Flicky through it with the guard, then regaining the weapon inside the compound.
Unfortunately, no players are using this mechanic in the prototype footage available, but you can see the development scenario in question at around 8:32 mark in the video below. It’s unclear why this didn’t take part in the final game, but it’s possible that the developers have considered redundancy in the feature after starting with already waiting for you on a level, including the ability to select hidden items during mission briefing.
Talents to sort these files could also replicate the unused menus they draw Hitman The main character, Agent 47, is on his way to time at the airport, probably his next target. This menu includes a character selection screen that allows players to select Agent 47 and another character known simply as an Asset. This is because in the final game you can only play as the former.
The asset is an early version of Lucas Gray, who has been turned into enemy throughout the trilogy’s storyline, and may feature missions and abilities that are different from those filmed and used by Agent 47.
As I said before, it’s great to see this kind of ongoing work find its way online. Hitman. In a perfect world, these companies are willing to share something like this after the game’s release, or at least provide early builds to some kind of appropriate archive.
If you want to try this prototype for yourself, don’t worry about finagling to make your build work. All the files you need are available in the hidden palace.
