Last year, HP announced that it will be the first to provide hardware based on Google Beam (formerly “Project Starline”). Currently, HP has announced “Dimensions.” This is being sold to Enterprises for $25,000 per pop.
HP dimensions using Google Beam are said to use six cameras and “state-of-the-art AI” to create realistic 3D videos for each participant.
According to HP, the device will be sold to selected partners in late 2025 and costs $25,000. This does not come with a Google Beam license in particular. These are sold separately.
As an enterprise-first device, HP Dimension plans to support Zoom Room and Google Meet, allowing not only 3D immersive chat, but also 2D traditional group meetings that integrate cloud-based video services such as teams and WebEx.
“We believe that meaningful collaboration will flourish with authentic human connections. That’s why we partnered with Google to bring the HP dimensions between Google and Google Beam from the lab to the company,” said HP Dimension, SVP and president of HP Inc., HP Dimension with Google Beam, creating a gap between Virty and Physical Communication and Birtual Virtual Virtual.
First introduced in 2021, Google Beam (Ex ‘Project Starlight’) combines a light field display to display natural 3D depth without the need for any kind of XR headset or glasses.
In its test, HP said this will attract 39% of nonverbal behavior, 37% will focus on better turn-takes, and 28% will notice an increase in memory recalls on traditional video conferencing platforms.
