“Guest characters are always a challenge,” says Nick Nicastro, design manager at Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios. But at least one thing can be easy to bring Mortal Kombat 1The latest in Korea, Terminator T-1000, to the fighting game: a common understanding of what the character is and what he can do in terms of being a cold-blooded murderer.
“We’re a major fan of ’80s and ’90s movies, so we’re all familiar with references from (.Terminator 2: Judgment Day) Nicastro said, “We’ve all seen the film many times, but it’s sticking out. It’s something that lands on your consciousness, the scene you saw, or a particular attack. As a design team, when we communicate with each other’s ideas about different things, we tend to cultivate some of these.”
In other words, when the Mortal Kombat Dev team is batting ideas, developers use shared knowledge of action movies. Terminator 2 As a shorthand. Thus, by identifying iconic moves from the T-1000, like the blades of his fingers and arms, the game designer gives the foundation of his work. (for mk1New cameo fighter Madame Bo, the team pulled out of kung fu movies like Stephen Chose Kang Hu Hu Hu hu slufor a shoe slap attack worthy of her meme. )
“In many ways, what we do is start with reference and come up with a rough idea for either particular move,” says Nicastro.

Although some of the move sets on the T-1000 were already based on James Cameron’s films, actually implementing a liquid metal terminator was a much more difficult task.
“This is a character we’ve always wanted to do. “We really couldn’t do it in the past. mk1a place where it has been created dramatically with engines, tools and technology. The process involved weeks of concepts and (months) development time. There are many iterations between the art department and the design team and the gameplay team. With the T-1000, it’s one of the most challenging characters we’ve worked on (especially as a guest character).
However, Nicastro said, “The liquid metal that fits the gameplay plan had a huge amount of source materials that we had in mind for him.”
In particular, two moves that stand out as a powerful implementation of the T-1000 skill set include his throw and dropkick. When the T-1000 throws an opponent mk1its move is based on tricks from Terminator 2Steel Mill Scene: Arnold’s T-800 throws the T-1000 against the wall and instead of turning around, the liquid metal machine simply forms his body and faces his opponent. mk1‘s t-1000 can also quickly convert large metal tears to “kick” enemies. T2.
“I think the visual presentation came across this character in a very powerful way,” adds Nicastro. “The way you activate a combo string, turn it into liquid metal, go into the air, lower your knock (opponent), turn it into liquid metal, pop up through the ground, then start the liquid form from a human when pulling out the in-game combo is probably one of the most impressive things to me.”

Nicastro points out that the T-1000 “breaks many rules of the game.” If other characters break bones, tear their internal organs, bleed a lot, or suffer in the process, the T-1000 is basically a painless metal chunk.
“When you hit him super moves, he needs to look like a liquid form,” says Nicastro.
Naturally, adding special cases like the T-1000 requires a lot of work. Ultimately, Nicastro says hundreds of people were involved in some kind of ability in Robert Patrick’s ability to bring in the Terminator. Mortal Kombat 1.
“It involved film artists, Mocup, Mocup actors, many animators, (and) many designers,” says Nicastro. “There are primary designers who drive such efforts, and the designers have done an incredible job, but you will help other designers. And you have an audio team, an art and effects team, a different technical team.
Mortal Kombat 1 Players can now see the fruits of their labor in the game. The T-1000 was released last week for game owners Khaos Reigns It can be used for expansion and now cult purchases.
