Netease’s latest hero shooter game makes waves on your PC. Finally, you’ll be coming to the console soon.
Bad Guitar Studio, a subsidiary of Netease Games, has announced that 5v5 hero shooting game Fragpunk will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series S | X on April 29th.
The developers have also announced how console players will be compensated for delays, including limited time event rewards that they may have missed since the start of Season 1.
The Fragpunk console version was supposed to launch dates and dates on the PC version, but during compliance testing, the day before its release was announced due to “unexpected challenges in optimization and adaptation.”
Compensation for delays
The developers say “Many Gifts” will be distributed to newly registered console game accounts and include “exclusive time-limited event rewards” from the start of Season 1 until April 29th.
The game is free to play, but those who purchase the Pioneer Bundle on the console will be eligible for additional compensation. Bad Guitar Studio provides a list of compensation items close to the release.
The console version includes both cross-play and cross-progression with your PC. It also includes optimizations such as extended aim assist to ensure a balance between the controller user and player on the mouse and keyboard.
Fragpunk is a 5V5 hero shooter with 13 playable lancers and has a unique mechanic called Shard Cards. Each team will provide mid-game randomised modifiers, such as giving enemies a big head, allowing only weapons for brawls.
According to SteamDB, it doesn’t attract the same type of player base as Marvel Rivals or Overwatch 2, but from its extremely successful daily peak, 10,000-20,000 players have been successful enough.
The Hero Shooter genre is a very busy market with very strong competitors, so it’s great to see them try new and different things and really strive to stand out. Hopefully, the console launch will help you establish a greater presence.
