Fortnite Switch 2 Technical Specs Revealed: 60FPS, Boosted Resolution, Mouse Controls

Epic Games detailing the technical specifications for the new version of Fortnite, which will be appearing on the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing that mouse support will arrive in an imminent patch.

As you can imagine, this fresh version of Hit Battle Royale arrives at frame rates (currently 60fps) and better resolution (2176×1224, or 1600×900 undex when Switch 2 is docked).

The new Nintendo console also allows for larger draw distances, allowing you to bring out more of these sweet long distance shots, clothing physics, high quality textures, shadows and water renderings.

Replays that are not available in the Switch 1 version of Fortnite will eventually become available to you to peruse and see which horrible person killed you. However, the original Save the World portion of the game is not available yet, as it has never been sold on Nintendo’s platform.

The next main Fortnite update, version 37.00, will add mouse controls when Epic makes it available for download on Saturday, June 7th. By default, the mouse can be viewed using the Joy-Con 2’s optical sensor instead.

Mouse controls are unlocked for all major Fortnite modes (Battle Royale, Zero Build, Team Rumble, Reload, Reload, Zero Build, Fortnite OG, Fortnite OG Zero Build). You can also use mouse controls in the menu.

As a welcome to Switch 2, anyone playing Fortnite on Nintendo’s new console until March 31, 2026 will unlock the exclusive Emotes, Wishing Star, as Epic Games describes: “Grab the shooting star, arrange your wishes, and throw it back! You can’t go on an air ride with it, but it’s the next best thing.

Fortnite is currently available on Switch 2 as the consoles are being released worldwide. Currently, the game is in the end of the Star Wars season’s Battle of Galaxy. This is scheduled to close this Saturday with a one-off live event where players sneak up on Death Star.

It’s been a busy week for Epic Games. This follows the recent release of Darth Vader, powered by a highly talkative AI, and we’ve been talking about the unrealistic engine and the future of AI in Fortnite. I’ve also heard about the eye-catching Witcher 4 demo from Epic and Witcher 4 developer CD Projekt Red.
