Fortnite Finally Returns To IOS After 5-Year Legal Dispute

summary

  • After a long delay, Fortnite finally returned to its iOS device via the App Store.

  • The dispute ended with courts lined up in an epic game, with Apple delaying the app’s return process.

  • Epic Games employees, including founder and CEO Tim Sweeney, celebrate their return.

Well, after departing from the App Store in 2020, five years of vacation, four new chapters, Snoop Dogg and Sabrina’s carpenter skin, Fortnite has finally returned to its Apple devices via the iOS App Store.

When Fortnite was first kicked out of the App Store, leading to a multi-million-dollar legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, no one could have predicted how long this event would last. Still, what must have been a painstaking journey both behind the scenes of both the epic game and Apple, feels like Epic is finally on top.

As shown in the announcement posted on Fortnite’s X account, Fortnite has been played and is now available for playback on iPhone and iPad devices for the first time since it was removed from the Apple Online Store in 2020.

After a long few years, and even longer weeks, it appears that Apple has deliberately delayed returning to Fortnite’s store after Epic won the legal battle. The announcement is a clear victory for the team, as backed up by a “We Back Fam” post from Epic Games CEO and founder Tim Sweeney.

This fight has been raging for quite some time, but I think many of us have forgotten that this whole controversy was originally established. What we expect is that the epic game hates Apple as much as Fortnite players hate scammers.

In fact, at the time, Epic Games branded Fortnite from promoting events, including the “splitting “Eighty-Fortnite” events that linked Apple’s authority to the authority of a dystopian dictatorship.

As many of us may have forgotten, this event had nothing to do with games other than its monetization. Epic Games has decided to oppose the iOS platform by revolting Apple’s built-in payment system against Apple’s high service fees.

fundamentally, Epic Games has offered discounts to the famous V-Bucks in the franchise Currency for those willing to buy them through the grand game third-party payment system.

By doing so, Apple and Google removed Fortnite from the system. Epic Games claims that by suing Apple and Google in return, app developers to ask for external payment sources, Apple/Google offers an unfair monopoly to all app creators, pointing out how expensive the mobile platform’s upcharge IOS and Google locations are.

Five years later, the court ultimately sided with the epic game, but not without the drama that followed. Last week, Apple intentionally ignored its request to return to Fortnite’s platform, slowing down a process that only takes a few days and asking for further legal testing of the delayed process.

But now, after that, it appears that the Saga has finally finished, and Fortnite is back on iOS. Continuing their old habits, You wouldn’t be surprised if Epic even decided to turn this into a brand new eventcosmetics and other references celebrate the gaming’s return to the platform.

Excuse the words that deserve the cry of coming from the old-fashioned Fortnite veterans. But it’s cathartic that Apple users have a chance to finally crank the 90s.
