Microsoft has suggested a new multi-platform strategy by passing the physical version of Hellblade to a limited run game rather than directly processing it.
One Xbox Series X|s exclusive to head straight to PS5 will get the physical version, but oddly, I’m waiting for the release of the PS5 version to be available in the home console’s disk format.
This game is nothing more than Saga: Hellblade 2 of Ninja Theory, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. This was confirmed last week to head to the PS5 over the summer.
The Hellblade franchise headed towards PlayStation and even Nintendo’s platform
The confirmation comes from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), lists the physical versions of Hellblade 2, and is processed in Limited Run games (not Microsoft) and is verified to be available in disk format on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X |s.
The game’s review summary is nothing new given that it has been out for the Xbox series and PC for quite some time, but for those who haven’t played it, “This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of a picture warrior who tries to save people from Viking oppressors. In a game where you cut down on enemies with enthusiastic melee combat.”
What makes this Tidbit even more interesting is that for the Nintendo Switch, the second list mentioning limited executions has also surfaced (via VGC).
Oddly, Microsoft, owner of Hellblade developer Ninja Theory, hasn’t handled the physical version, but has given it to Limited Run Games, a publisher of boutique video games that usually focuses on indie games.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 has no release date yet, but when it debuts on the PS5 it will offer “new features.” Whatever these new features, they will be delivered to Xbox and PC owners as free title updates. As for the first Hellblade coming to Switch 2, it’s not too surprising given Microsoft’s new multi-platform strategy.
Last week we reported that the Xbox port is scheduled to drop on Switch 2 this year. The first Hellblade could be the first of many previous titles in the future.
