Perhaps the worst mini-game in the history of the Final Fantasy franchise will appear in magic. It’s a gathering as part of the upcoming crossover between both games. Luckily there are better rewards to finish it with a tabletop game.
The Final Fantasy Franchise is well known for slotting mini-games along with a long main story. The play of Final Fantasy VII is a recent example. This was flooded with various side activities to participate, but Sephiroth was free to follow his evil plans.
A new spoiler post on MagictCG Reddit reveals new cards from the Final Fantasy Set. SideQuest: Called Play Blitzball, it is an enchantment card based on the sports mini-games of Final Fantasy X.
Blitzball is magic: Gathering Card
In Final Fantasy X, Blitzball was an underwater soccer style game where players were able to use special RPG abilities to beat other teams. It was a slow event and it was incredibly boring to boot. The only saving grace is an oversight that allows players to win by hiding their goals.
Luckily, the version of Magic: Blitzball Gathering is not so tortured. This is because players must deal six or more combat damage to the player and turn it into a world champion, Celestial Weapon Legendary Artifact card.
Side Quest: The fact that Blitzball turns into a World Champion is a reference to Final Fantasy X, as players need to come third or higher in the Blitzball tournament or win five games to unlock the weapons of Wakka.
Adding Magical Blitzball: The Gathering is just one of the great references included in the Final Fantasy Set. The mini-games may have been annoying during Tidus’ adventures, but they may actually be useful for players in magic, or world gatherings.
